With roots based somewhere between the port city of Fremantle, Western Australia & Winnipeg, Manitoba- singer songwriter Matt Irvin has recently released his debut EP "Now A Lover" through Canopy Records. The ex-instrumentalist from defunct roots outfit 'Dusk' has embarked upon his solo career with a newfound enthusiasm. Drawing influences from the likes of Ryan Adams, Jeff Buckley, David Ford and Damien Rice, Matt's sometimes fragile yet sometimes soaring vocals, sketch a powerful journey in the audiences' mind. The live experience see's Matt incorporating elements of live trumpet and vocal harmonies with the creative use of a loop station.
The EP recorded at Studio Couch in North Fremantle with renowned producer and engineer Shaun O'Callaghan (John Butler Trio, Gyroscope), features Warren Page (The Dirty Secrets), Glenn Sarangapany(Dyslexic Fish, Birds of Tokyo), Gavin Shoesmith (Groovesmiths, ex-John Butler Trio) & Benn Landers (ex-Dusk)
As a successfull and inspired applicant of the innagrual JB Seed Management Workshop (2006), Matt has toured throughout both Canada and now resides in New York City where he perform regularly.

Amazing man, I'm glad to hear you are expanding your musical horizons and trying new stuff out. Unfortunately we want to get our EP done by end of May so coming down there to get you on it wouldnt be doable. However, we still badly want to come down and play with you. Dare I say you and I cover a Jeff Buckley tune.. oh the heads will turn... Seriously tho, we are open to suggestions for time to come down, but it looks like July and August would be best. Catch the dirty heat of the city for 5 days or so. We would love it if you could help out on venue choices and all that, and will do our best to promote among our peoples in your fair city. Let us know if we can make it happen and we'll get talking on the phone for serious plans. We'd love to do at least 2 shows while there. Ok this is really long. peace maaaaaaan
Mr Irvin. Proposition for you... I get in a car, pack it to the roof with guitars and strapping young men, drive due south (not really) to NYC, play not one but many shows with you in what will be the most epic and lucrative one-city tour... ever. What do you say? How does your summer look? Want to drive to Toronto in 3.5 weeks to play trumpet on our album? cmaaaan...
What's happening? I just wanted to get the word out that Last months gig went so well that I'm springing up with another one at the same place, this Friday January 25th at 10:oopm at Googies Lounge, which is upstairs from the Living Room, 154 Ludlow in between Stanton and Rivington on the Lower East Side. I'm playing just after the Wild Deer who start at 9:00. It's going to be a great line-up. There's no cover and no drink minimum, just solid music.
Merry Christmas!! I know that everyone has probably left New York for the Holiday season but if you haven't come and check out my show this Friday December 28th at 10:30pm at Googies Lounge, which is upstairs from the Living Room, 154 Ludlow in between Stanton and Rivington on the Lower East Side. There's no cover and I plan on absolutely zero Christmas material. So if you need a break from Jingle Bells and Deck the Halls, come check it out.
