Hi. My name is Matt Kurzban. I am the singer/guitarist/songwriter for the NYC/Jersey City rock group DAMN GLAD. It’s my first love and I will always enjoy the energy and excitement of being in a band with my bros doing our thing. Aside from being the leader of DG, I am also a musician who plays drums, bass, keys, a writer and a producer. I love creating music and I’m still fascinated with the adoration and respect that I have for the artistry and creative process. While I have always been a band guy, I wanted to give a little more of me to the world aside from DG. Every musician knows that being in a band is rewarding but can also be complicated and at times limiting. Ask any solo artist which I also consider myself to be. I’m a jack of all trades, master of fun! Why else would I name my band DAMN GLAD?
When I’m not writing songs and performing with DG, I keep busy writing instrumental tracks for film/tv/music libraries. Busy lives and schedules of bandmates doesn’t always keep me musically fulfilled. Add the current state of the music biz and the odds of breaking bands these days. It’s not for the faint hearted. I still have the desire and fire to reach rockstar status (even though I’ve been rocking for years on big and small stages minus the large crowds for the most part). That’s why I created this site. This site is my portal, my gallery, my library of current works. Some are instrumental and some with vocals.
The collection of music on this site is all written, produced and performed by me as the band. I did not play drums on these songs, I use drum loops (you still need to think and feel like a drummer). The tracks here are either new songs that haven’t made it to the DAMN GLAD repertoire yet or instrumental tracks for soundtrack purposes. While I always pitch my songs from DG which contain my lyrics and vocals, I also work for hire writing instrumental tracks for background music.
