The Matt Lees Band was formed through the creative genius of founder Matt Lees. Born an only child, Matt was forced to find ways to entertain himself in his humble, Wales home. Creative arts became a necessary outlet for Matt to express himself through his early years, and he never lost his passion for such when his family decided to move to Ontario, Canada at his mere age of 12. Being thrust into a new environment allowed life change, and more creative opportunities for him. Whilst doing other things throughout high school, Matt maintained his love of the arts, particularly writing and music. With a growing portfolio of song lyrics and other such writings, Matt found himself hitting a wall. It was time to make a change, and take his music a step further. Teaching himself through lessons found on the Internet, Matt slowly began to form structure to his lyrics through the use of guitar. He taught himself enough songs to play local shows in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Through networking at jams and pub nights Matt met the musicians who would ultimately make up his band. With a strong sound, the Matt Lees Band continues to further their art, and have begun to play on a larger circuit than the young writer could have imagined when he began. A strong player in the independent music scene, the Matt Lees Band has attracted the attention of agents and managers nationally. Alongside with the growing crowd for shows, the band has become a cult favourite on college radio. Powerful live shows, catchy songs, and a fun-loving stage personality, the Matt Lees Band will continue to advance their passion and talent for years to come.

hey Matt - I was thinking we should skip our usual mid-show sacrifice of a puppy on Friday. While I know it's a crowd fave, I think it might be inappropriate for that particular show. Or at least we should make it a really ugly puppy...
