like everyone, so many influences. I ve worked my way through 60s,70s rock and folk, had my 'madchester' phase, I love african and world music and alternative country. At the moment I mainly listen to contemporary US bands such as My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses, Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear etc, and artists such as Surfjan Stevens, Ryan Adams, Euro Childs, and Evan Dando. I love anything that's atmospheric or ambient.. I find the natural world/sciences very inspiring and websites such as www.richarddawkins.net or podcasts like the http://www.theskepticsguide.org/ very thought provoking... !

More like a pop-up book, this highly visual album of rich melodies and lyrics moves like a spotlight through lost, distant worlds. Mixing guitars, banjos, organs and strong rhythms, this is an alternative rock album with occasional folk leanings.
matt is stuttering with the use of his 'blog' function now. Have a read of his lastest blog to see what he's up to. Also :check out his photos for, possibly, a more up-to-date idea of his musical activities !

Lyrically, my songs are inspired by books that I read, short stories and poems that I ve written. Many of my songs describe unusual situations, strange characters and events.
An intergalactic stargazer who spots the earth from the far side of the universe after 80 years of searching, slowly realising the profound implications of his find (-the telescope dream-) or the urban jungle from the point of view of the animals trapped within it (-the national geographic-).
Some songs deal with the sadness of moving on and leaving (-new south wales-) or simply missing someone so much that everyone you meet reminds you of them (-the corner of your mind-).
I like a good story and two demos on my profile tell of strange events, - imagine being transported to 1852 in the blink of an eyelid to a dark train carriage with danger pulsating in the background.. (-the footsteps in the dark demo-) Finally, (-the signal demo-) tries to capture a climber’s dilemma; clinging to a mountainside during a fierce storm he receives a mayday message from a ship in the middle of the ocean. He can’t respond, no one else heard the message, - caught in the storm he’s helpless to assist them, what should he do ?
I am always keen for my songs to say something or tell a story.
2009 has been a great musical year for me, playing lots of concerts and festivals across Spain and in London and Barcelona.
Me personally?, well I am English, I’ve lived in many places, for this reason ich spreche sehr gern deutsch y me encanta la idioma espanol. I love surfing, football, good books and films - probably in that order.
2010 will bring new adventures. I want to take the music to new places, win new listeners in places I ve never heard of before.
new songs, new stories, new inspiration, I hope to see you along the way.
See below for a recent magazine interview..
thanks for stopping by and say hi ! M*

Matt, die neue CD ist super!! Ganz toll. Hast Du die Cover-Fotos auch gemacht? Echt schön, die CD jetzt in Händen zu haben. Alles Liebe. Happy Christmas Season 2009. Martin
Lol I can't believe you watched that! Thanks though :P. The solo is awesome in that track by the way. Bought a couple songs and listened to them along with some others for 10 hours straight today while studying!
Do you think we could get the lyrics (and eventually the stories) for Robert Jordan and The Zombie Song as well? I would love to read them, since my English is not perfect either. Oh and by the way, who's doing the vocals in those two? It sounds grand together! Doing them yourself?
Bought the album and loving it so much! Thank you for your music, Matt <3, it always makes me feel better, because it's so special. I wish I could hear it live once. Let me know if you come to the Czech Republic, please. Much love, T.
Damn your sherry-horses, rascal! Some of us have to go to the cornershop for hock. Delighted to hear you have sold out (er, of your CD). Fame beckons...so run for the hills lad.
Way to go though by selling out! I'm confident more will be available at some point, and it'll be great fun for me when they are. I love the look of the album cover by the way... Carry on, Darlin'.
Well now, that was fun!! You should do more of them, yes? I am feeling 'waves' (sorry) of nostalgia for the oceans I live nowhere near...sigh. Thank you for a much needed visit with the sun, sand, and sea shells.
