Matthew Lee wallis Aka Shrewd.
Matt was born and raised in Lincoln UK and has had a passion for the chunky underground sounds from an early age.
Being influenced from the likes of Inland Knights and DIY back in the day, Matts visions for music were already set in motion.
Matt now 30 has been djing for over 12 years and producing for nearly 8.
This all started back in the day with Matt being one of the original founders off the legendary Shrewd Sound System.
From here Matts love for the music playing out at free parties and clubs became even stronger!
Matt knew then the only way forward would be to start creating his own unique brand off sounds and styles!
So armed with not much more than ideas and a passion, Matt set about learning the skills and techniques in which he needed to create these ideas and turn them into the styles of house music he produces to this day.
With Matts first release on Myna Music in 2004 The 'Words ep' tucked safely under his belt, with massive success and support from the likes of Lawnchair Generals, Inland Knights, Mark Farina, East Coast Boogiemen, The Littlemen, and Da Sunlounge to say a few, He could now move on to new projects.
Over the last 5 years Matt has had many respectable release's on various different labels including Drop Music, Amenti, Myna, Nightshift, Bambino, Flavor Recordings, Tango Records, Shrewd Music, GuestHouse Music, Candy Music, Goodfamily, Flat & Round, More Music, Lingo recordings, Kolour Rec, Housetown records & Chunky Traxx.
These releases all show Matts diverse ability to produce various different forms and styles of house music, but all with that special added 'Shrewd' sound, Which when tried and tested on dance floors across the globe by some of the industries best, you just know his sounds going to be getting bigger and better!
In 06 Matt's also been working closely with other producers like Jay West forming the duo 'Pushin Boundries' & working with Matthew Bandy & forming the duo 'Distant Funk'so be sure to keep an ear out for these two names in the not to distant future!
With the launch of Flavor recordings in 2006 and now also the launch of Shrewd Music in early 07 its looking like Matts going to be hopefully having a very busy future!
So be sure to keep an eye out for any future Shrewd releases, because this boys seriously bringing on the heat!

Ben (Brown/Unpopular) i like all the tracks. my favourites of real thang are the original and toms mix - especially like the rudebwoy b-line and old style beats of the TSI mix.my favourite of the whole release is programming - i think mostly cos of the samples and the way they are arranged. its good fun.
Mike (Kolour): sch's original broke new ground for these guy's sound. it has a nice disco vibe that works really well in the mix. i've been playing it since john sent it moons ago. the mastering on it came out perfect too. really brings the tune to life.damien's remix features more of the vocal and that's never a bad thing as far as i'm concerned. he churned out yet another remix where he takes the original tune and makes it his own. this is definitely something i'll play tom's remix is definitely a departure from the other two versions. he adds a level of filth to it that contrasts the dynamic of the EP just enough to give it that 'something for everyone' feel.
Quell: I LOVED Damien's old/new school remix and the original version of that track and i really like Toms 'programming' track.
