MATTHEW TAVIS JOHNSON BRIEF PROFILE PROFILE:
Musical.. Matthew started playing piano around age 3 or 4...his father had always played professionally, and he saw how people responded to him; becoming very happy, and touched. This was Matt's initial motivation to play since he was very young. Though he was separated from his Dad when he was 6 Matt still continued to play without a teacher. Matt began experimenting with writing songs at age 14, and recorded his first cd "A Brighter View" at 18. Since then, Matt's overall musical ability and writing ability have improved greatly, and he has been giving performances over Oregon and Washington.

Personal..
I recently graduated from Oregon State University, class of June 2006..I laugh a lot and smile often..I really enjoy being with my friends and wonderful girlfriend, but often find my self at either a piano or playing interactive dance games. I really enjoy different cultures, particularly asian. =D I have been studying Japanese for about 4-5 years and have spent time in Japan, Vietnam, Costa Rica, and Korea which were all great experiences. I'm working on the vietnamese language which is impossible.
I think I'm lucky to have such an awesome family, an great friends that I would do anything for. I've been playing soccer since I was 8ish I was voted MVP of the state of Oregon a few years back (my one thing I'll be able to brag about for the rest of my life :):) I playced in the PAC-10 for the Oregon State Beavers for 4 years as well. Thinking about pursuing a career in professional soccer....but I'm not sure if that's where I want to go right now. I love games even though I never have the time to play them! I particularly love all the dancing games like DDR, ITG, Pump it Up, and whatever else I played in Japan.
HOBBIES/INTERESTS:
Soccer, Piano, DDR & ITG, any other sports, music editing, computers, bemani, music production, friends, drink mixing, japanese, chinese, vietnamese, taiwanese, korean, languages, culture, dramas, anime, manga, people w/ something to teach.

MUSIC:
I really love music, all different types. I usually find myself listening to Japanese music, I love bands like Arashi, Ayumi Hamasaki, X Japan etc. I really like F4 (chinese) and Jay Chou, Korean I used to listen to Baby VOX, DBSK, for american music which I havent listened to in a while ... I love Eminem, Switchfoot, Simple plan among others... I love Techno as long as the melody is nice and it has a good beat, anything with piano in it I love, I love violin and chello =) Music is awesome!
Matthew Tavis Johnson is a self-taught pianist from Santa Cruz, California now residing in Portland, Oregon. His music style is often said to be a mixture of David Lanz and Jim Brickman, with an even more emotional feel. Only 24, Matt has traveled to many places around the world. "Each new place you visit influences you and your music in a different way. Everywhere I visit inspires me to write a new type of song that I wouldn't have been able to write otherwise! I feel very lucky to have had those opportunities."
Matthew has released two CD's, his album 'Reach for the Sky' has been said by some to be "an album of greatist hits!" Easily inspired, Matthew now has three new albums expected to come out over the next few years.
