Matt Vashlishan is a saxophonist originally from the Pocono Mountain area in Pennsylvania. In 2001, he attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY, studying under Walt Weiskopf. Upon graduation in May of 2005, Matt traveled extensively around the world visiting Norway, the UK, the Mediterranean Sea, Europe, Venezuela, as well as the Caribbean while performing on board two cruise ships (the Queen Mary 2-Cunard, and the Golden Princess-Princess Cruises).
He has completed his Masters of Music in Jazz Performance from William Paterson University in New Jersey, and is continuing study at the University of Miami in persuit of a Doctor of Musical Arts in Jazz Performance. Matt has also been awarded the teaching assistant position at UM.
During his time at the Eastman School of Music, Matt was part of Saxology as well as the Eastman Jazz Ensemble. He has also shared the stage with numerous musicians such as David Liebman, Phil Woods, Ian Froman, John Hart, Bill Goodwin, Jesse Green, Walt Weiskopf, Clark Terry, Rob Stoneback Big Band, the Dave Rivello Ensemble, the Bill Warfield Big Band, Gary Rissmiller, Marko Marcinko, Paul Rostock, Vic Juris, Steve Marcus, Gene Pitney, The Temptations, and The Four Tops.
At the University of Miami, Matt is actively involved in the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra that has included performances with Bruce Hornsby, Patti Austin, Steve Miller, Dave Koz, Monica Mancini, Tom Scott, Ricky Skaggs and others.
Matt has completed his first recording as a leader entitled "No Such Thing." Produced by David Liebman who also appears on two tracks, this recording features several of Matt's compositions as well as a few standards accompanied by an incredible rhythm section (Vic Juris, Tony Marino, and Michael Stephans).

Aside from playing, Matt has involved himself in various electronic music experimentation as well as working with David Liebman and Jamey Aebersold. He is also available for transcribing projects and copying work.
