I began studying guitar at the Royal Conservatory at age 16. A few years later I moved to Montreal and earned an AEC diploma from Vanier College and a BMUS in jazz guitar performance from McGill University.
After graduating in 2003 I was awarded a full graduate teaching assistantship at Western Michigan University while doing a masters degree in jazz performance. After leaving WMU I was awarded a teaching assistantship at the University of Illinois, where in the summer of 2008 I graduated with a DMA in jazz performance
Currently I am a full time faculty member at Western Illinois University where I teach the jazz and classical guitar studios, coach the guitar ensemble and teach the classroom guitar course. I am also on faculty at the Interlochen Summer Arts Academy where I teach studio guitar lessons, jazz improvisation, jazz rhythm section seminar, the history of the jazz rhythm section and direct the jazz guitar ensemble.
I have been lucky enough to have studied privately with Tom Knific, Chip McNeill, Roddy Ellias, Roy Patterson, Fred Hersch, Billy Hart, Jack Grassell and Gene Bertoncini. As well he has performed in master classes with Ben Monder, Theo Bleckmann, Eliane Elias, Marc Johnson, Jake Langley and Jim McNeeley.
Throughout my performing career I have traveled and performed in Canada, the US including Lincoln Center and several IAJE conferences, France, Belgium, Estonia and Latvia while sharing the stage with artists Stefon Harris, Slide Hampton, Jim Pugh, Jim McNeeley, Darmon Meader, Tom Warrington and Randy Brecker.
As well as having an active performing and teaching career I write articles and reviews for Just Jazz Guitar magazine, the Jazz Guitar Gazette and the Jazz Guitar Life webzine. I have also written two books for the Hal Leonard easy guitar series, and have co-authored a book of Kurt Rosenwinkel transcriptions with Brandon Bernstein on Mel Bay Publications.

Yea I mean his reach in the musical world should have been far greater then Chet Atkins. I mean Chet was awsome, but Lenny understood his guitar way better, I mean he could have probly put Wes to shame if he wouldve been around longer.
Thanks for the add brother, the lenny breu quote is what made me wanna add you. He was probly one of the best guitarist whos ever lived. Though his first few recordings were more country then anything. Wich really made get into him. Well sorry Ive ranted alittle thanks for the add.
