The Maui Arts & Cultural Center is a non-profit community organization, opened in 1994 as the culmination of a longtime dream by leading members of the Maui community. Described as “the artistic and educational heart of an entire community” by the Maui News, the Maui Arts & Cultural Center boasts a position as a world-class performing arts facility comprised of two indoor theaters, an outdoor amphitheater, art gallery, classrooms, studios and meeting facilities with an extensive and diverse array of performances, visual art programs and educational activities throughout the year.

The MACC currently serves more than 260,000 people annually, through approximately 1,800 events: major music and theater productions, hula, symphony, ballet, drama, children’s art, 'ukulele & slack key guitar, popular music, acrobatics, storytelling, and more. In addition, the MACC is a frequent gathering place for community meetings, hula dance troupes and school events.

UPCOMING HIGHLIGHTS

BARYSHNIKOV & LAGUNA
in Three Solos and a Duet
Thursday, September 17, 7:30 pm, Castle Theater

Photobucket
Maui Arts & Cultural Center in association with Baryshnikov Arts Center presents "Three Solos and a Duet" with Ana Laguna and Mikhail Baryshnikov in works by today’s leading ballet choreographers Mats Ek, Benjamin Millepied and Alexei Ratmansky. A program of pure dance captures Baryshnikov’s remarkable physical presence and, together with Laguna, a lifetime of experience that informs every gesture, every movement. Noted The New York Times, the performance is “portraits of the dancer as mature artist, one with remarkable physical clarity.” Mikhail Baryshnikov is collaborating on new ‘material for an adult’ that sometimes has the dancer playfully competing with his younger self portrayed in film behind him. Still able to whip through spiraling off-balance jumps, Baryshnikov and Ms. Laguna were met by standing ovations at his sold-out performances across Europe.
