Maui Slam Poetry’s 2nd Annual Body Slam! Thursday, July 29, 2010 Casanova in Makawao 9:30pm, 21+ $5 cover This month Maui Slam steps into the FUTURE, when Rachel Deboer and her Next Level Theater Productions body painting CREW paint lovely female models as black light robots—in 3-D!

Turntable sorcery by DJ BOOMSHOT and improv visuals by Benjamen Christ add to the artistic alchemy of the evening. The night culminates in a dance performance by the bodypainted “robots.”

Maui Slam Poetry’s 2nd Annual Body Slam is a “No Rules” poetry slam. Team pieces, musical accompaniment, props, etc. are allowed and encouraged. The $100 cash prize will be split between the three highest scoring poets of the evening. Maui Slam Poetry will be running “No Rules” slams through August.

*Open sign-up to poets who wish to perform is from 9-9:45pm.

*Team or group pieces, musical accompaniment, props, dancing/movement, costumes, etc. are allowed and encouraged.

* Your poetry still needs to be your original work and we’re still gonna try to keep to the 3 minute limit!

* A total of $100 in cash (plus additional prizes) will be divvied out to the top three scoring poets.

    I feel for the underdog but I am definitely a winner
    My problem is I seek lower companionship
    And I associate too much to the people who don't have the same drive and hunger as I do
    It's that old comfort thing we all do

    We tend to gravitate towards warm and safe places that remind us of the womb
    Where nothing is either ventured nor gained
    When other people don't do what I expect of them
    I now go for a run

    I run until I get the expectation out of my system
    That's all a resentment is
    An unmet expectation
    Not everyone wants to win

    Not everyone wants to be all they can be
    That is perfecly OK with me
    I have fun just navigating my way through my own daily trials
    And life is pretty fun right now

    I feel in control of my own life
    I must be a rare bird because I can find very few people I can relate to
    Can you relate to being hungry and wanting to win?
    Can you relate to being competitive and taking life like a game?

    Can you break from that and consider others when they need you?
    Can you tell when someone is holding you back?
    Can you tell when you're being BS'd by phony mofos?
    I can
    And even tho I don't like it life goes on

    Look, I haven't had pussy since pussy had me
    But I know I look good
    I work out and take really good care of myself
    If bitches don't want that then fuck em

    I don't care anymore
    Life is too short
    Worshiping air headed little bimbos and shallow people is not on my to do list anymore
    I am going to pay off my debt

    Because debt is a spiritual sickness
    I am going to save my money to put down on a house
    And then I'm going to invest in hunting and camping equipment
    And then I am going to go see the world from the side that most people don't see it

    And I'm going to do it with those that I love

    happy fathers day-a real man will support his children under all circumstances,a real man will protect his children's innocence and purity..a real man will respect there mother, even if his ego feels to be rude,disrespectful and resentful to her..respecting the woman who brought these children in the world (via 9 months in the womb) deserves respect..this will help the children's self esteem in the long run,and gives them a strong family foundation built on respect,commitment and honer-if a mother and a father have to split up,do it lovingly,do it as delicately as possible,by assuring the children you will always be there for them..its more important to watch the false ego that wants to turn the children against one of the parents,this will cause such everlasting subconscious damage in the children..whatever you do ,do it for the children's safety and innocence-or don't be a parent,you have no right to bring souls in just for ego's sake..grow up
