I worked in Architecture for 11 yrs; decided it wasn't for me. I love film, literature & hockey. I'm a Toronto based independent filmmaker. My most recent film, 'Malcontents', a 20 minute short won a few awards and we plan to submit it to a few festivals. It features a great soundtrack by Douglas September (check out www.douglasseptember.com and buy his album 'Oil Tan Bow' on itunes) and one song from Gord Downie 'Insomniacs of the World Goodnight'. I wrote and directed 'Malcontents', which is about two brothers that work the night shift at a tow truck lot on New Years Eve and deal with a package found in the back of one of the cars in the lot.
'Sofa King Paranoid' (play below) was written, shot and editted in 48 hours. It was co-produced with Bill Hackenbrook and Craig Milne. Bill and I co-wrote and co-directed the film and Craig shot and edited the film. The film is about one man's comedic search for the truth after he finds a condom wrapper under his sofa cushion. The film features 3 songs by Alan Lee, who also plays the main character, Dawna Wright plays his wife. A talented musician and actor, Alan won best actor for this character at the 2005 Reel 48 Film Festival.
I'm writing a feature length script right now that I'm pitching in November. I'm 1st AD on several short films as well as shorts at the Canadian Film Centre. I also sit on the board of Group Therapy Productions, an independent collective of filmmakers that holds fundraisers and produces interesting, entertaining short low budget films.
I've also done some acting in the past and hope to continue that in the future. I've been the lead in numerous shorts and have trained with Cindy Tanas and Ginger Howard Friedman in Toronto. I write some over-indulgent self-absorbed poetry too (see blogs above).
I'm the male lead in 'Little Deaths', a short written by Peter Hajdu and directed by Shannon Paterson. I'm also the DP on 'Little Deaths', with Peter Hajdu and Craig Milne shooting when I'm in scenes. I was in a commercial for Gun Amnesty P.E.A.C.E. where I get shot and die in the hospital.
Other projects have included a commerical I wrote and produced and directed for TOTix and a music video I directed for Bobby Borzellino's 'Runaway'.
I hope to meet other filmmakers, musicians, makeup artists, wardrobe designers, producers, graphic artists, web designers to collaborate with on future projects. If you think our styles might sync, or if you simply 'like the cut of my jib', let me know. Craig Milne and I are also interested in producing music videos for independent artists in the Toronto area.
