I am proud to announce my nominee for the next Justice of the United States Supreme Court: Judge Sonia Sotomayor.
This decision affects us all -- and so it must involve us all. I've recorded a special message to personally introduce Judge Sotomayor and explain why I'm so confident she will make an excellent Justice.
Judge Sotomayor has lived the America Dream. Born and raised in a South Bronx housing project, she distinguished herself in academia and then as a hard-charging New York District Attorney.
Judge Sotomayor has gone on to earn bipartisan acclaim as one of America's finest legal minds. As a Supreme Court Justice, she would bring more federal judicial experience to the Supreme Court than any Justice in 100 years. Judge Sotomayor would show fidelity to our Constitution and draw on a common-sense understanding of how the law affects our day-to-day lives.
A nomination for a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land is one of the most important decisions a President can make. And the discussions that follow will be among the most important we have as a nation.

Thank you,
President Barack Obama

Sallah --
Last night, I addressed a joint session of Congress for the first time.
To confront the serious economic challenges our nation faces, I called for a new era of responsibility and cooperation. We need to look beyond short term political calculations and make vital investments in health care, energy, and education that will make America stronger and more prosperous well into the future.
A little more than a month into my administration, we've already taken bold steps to address our urgent economic problems.
Through the Recovery Act, the Stability Plan, and the Housing Plan, we're taking the immediate necessary measures to halt our economic downturn and provide much-needed assistance to working people and their families.
But to set our country on a new course of stability and prosperity, we must reject the old ways of doing business in Washington. We can no longer tolerate fiscal deficits and runaway spending while deferring the consequences to future generations.
That's why I pledged last night to cut our deficit in half by the end of my term. Achieving that goal will require making sacrifices and hard decisions, as well as an honest budgeting process that is straight with taxpayers about where their dollars are going.
Central to this plan will be a renewed commitment to honesty and transparency in government. Restoring our country's economic health will only happen when ordinary citizens are given the opportunity to hold their representatives fully accountable for the decisions they make.
I look forward to continuing to work with you as we bring about the change you made possible.
Thank you,
President Barack Obama

Sallah --
The economic crisis is growing more serious every day, and the time for action has come.
Last week, the House of Representatives passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which will jump start our economy and put more than 3 million people back to work.
I hope to sign the recovery plan into law in the next few weeks. But I need your help to spread the word and build support.
It's not enough for this bill to simply pass Congress. Americans need to know how it will affect their lives -- they need to know that help is on the way and that this administration is investing in economic growth and stability.
The stakes are too high to allow partisan politics to get in the way.
That's why I've consulted with Republicans as well as Democrats to put together a plan that will address the crisis we face.
I've also taken steps to ensure an unprecedented level of transparency and accountability. Once it's passed, you will be able to see how every penny in this plan is being spent.
You can help restore confidence in our economy by making sure your friends, family, and neighbors understand how the recovery plan will impact your community.
Our ability to come together as a nation in difficult times has never been more important.
I know I can rely on your spirit and resolve as we lead our country to recovery.
Thank you,
President Barack Obama

Barack and Joe have asked some of the country's most experienced leaders on national security, foreign policy, law enforcement, and military matters to come together to renew America's security and standing in the world.
Watch the video of Barack's announcement and learn about the national security team.
Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senator from New York and former First Lady, will serve as Secretary of State.
Secretary Robert Gates, the current Secretary of Defense, will continue to serve in that role.
Eric Holder, former Deputy Attorney General and a former United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, will serve as Attorney General.
Janet Napolitano, Governor and former U.S. Attorney for Arizona, will serve as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
Dr. Susan E. Rice, a Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the Obama for America campaign, a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, will serve as Ambassador to the United Nations.
General Jim Jones, USMC (Ret), former Allied Commander, Europe, and Commander of the United States European Command, will serve as National Security Advisor.

These appointees will be tasked with strengthening current alliances and forging new ones, protecting our citizens at home, defending against our enemies, and promoting our values and moral leadership throughout the world.
While the challenges they are sure to face will be great, the opportunities to unify our country and our world will be even greater.
With your support, we'll meet those challenges and opportunities with the hope and optimism that has brought us to this moment of change.
Thank you,
David

Sallah ,
I'm about to head to Grant Park to talk to everyone gathered there, but I wanted to write to you first.
We just made history.
And I don't want you to forget how we did it.
You made history every single day during this campaign -- every day you knocked on doors, made a donation, or talked to your family, friends, and neighbors about why you believe it's time for change.
I want to thank all of you who gave your time, talent, and passion to this campaign.
We have a lot of work to do to get our country back on track, and I'll be in touch soon about what comes next.
But I want to be very clear about one thing...
All of this happened because of you.
Thank you,
Barack _______________________________________________________-
We're just one day away from change.
Election Day is tomorrow -- Tuesday, November 4th.
We've asked you to do a lot over the course of this campaign, and you've always come through.
Right now, I'm asking you to do one last thing -- vote tomorrow, and make sure everyone you know votes, too.
Watch a short video about how far we've come, and how close we are. Then find or confirm your polling location and make sure your friends and family do the same:
Find your polling place and volunteer
When this campaign began, we weren't given much of a chance by the pollsters or the pundits.
But tomorrow, we can make history.
We've made it this far because supporters like you never stopped believing in your power to bring about real change.
Take the final step now.
Watch the video, find your polling location, and get everyone you know involved on Election Day:
http://my.barackobama.com/nov4
With your vote, and the votes of your friends, family, and neighbors, we won't just win this election -- together, we will change this country and change the world.
Thank you,
Barack

Sallah,
I just finished the last debate before the election.
Now the outcome of this campaign is up to you. I need your help to get our message out -- and to get out the vote.
I wouldn't ask for your support if this campaign didn't urgently need it.
The most dangerous thing you can do right now is nothing. Your support and hard work are exactly what we need between now and Election Day.
While he didn't mention the middle class, John McCain chose to repeat the false, negative attacks that make up 100% of his advertising these days.
The truth is that his choices say more about his campaign than they do about me.
But John McCain and his allies are not going to stop fighting -- or attacking -- until the very end.
We're doing this a different way. Tonight I talked about the real problems ordinary people face during this economic crisis and concrete ways that I will create jobs, cut health care costs, build a new energy policy, and get our economy moving.
But time is running out. Our strength and our success in these last 20 days depends on you.
Thank you for all you do,
Barack

Hello Sallah,
The race for the White House is awfully close in North Carolina.
The Republicans usually count on North Carolina's electoral votes being safely in their column, but this year the race for president is neck and neck.
One big reason is an unprecedented voter registration effort, fueled by the hard work of supporters like you.
But our work isn't over. It's going to take a lot more new voters to put us over the top, and time is running out. North Carolina's voter registration deadline is just seven days away, on Friday, October 10th.
Carolyn and I are going to be registering voters, and we're counting on Obama supporters like you to volunteer this weekend to help the North Carolina Campaign for Change register new voters before the crucial deadline.
The past eight years of failed Bush-McCain policies have been disastrous for families here in North Carolina.
Since 2001, these policies have cost us 30% of our manufacturing jobs, the cost of health care has doubled, and the number of uninsured has increased to 1,500,000 North Carolinian's.
We can't afford four or eight more years of that. And since our state is such a crucial general election battleground, you have a chance to make a big impact on the outcome of this race.
The more people register, and the more people vote, the more likely we win. And you are part of that.
If we work together, we can win this thing.
Thanks,
Governor Jim Hunt

Sallah ,
I just finished my first debate with John McCain.
Millions of Americans finally got a chance to see us take on the fundamental choice in this election -- the change we need or more of the same.
I will provide tax cuts for the middle class, affordable health care, and a new energy economy that creates millions of jobs. John McCain wants to keep giving huge tax cuts to corporations, and he offered no solutions for the challenges Americans are facing in their daily lives.
I will end the war in Iraq responsibly, focus on defeating al Qaeda and the Taliban, and restore America's standing in the world after eight years of disastrous policies. John McCain wants an unending commitment in Iraq and fails to recognize the resurgent threat in Afghanistan.
Let's be clear: John McCain is offering nothing but more of the same failed Bush policies at home and abroad that he has supported more than 90% of the time in the Senate.
Americans need change now, and I need your help to get the word out about this movement.
In the coming days, it's going to be up to you to organize locally and reach the voters that are going to decide this election. - Barack

Dear Sallah,
The McCain campaign has finally admitted that this election is about change.
Their new ad uses what news organizations are calling "naked lies" to reinvent two politicians whose records embody the same culture of corruption and far-right policies we've seen from the Bush administration.
The biggest whopper in the ad (that's still being repeated day after day by McCain and Palin on the campaign trail) is that Governor Palin stopped the infamous "Bridge to Nowhere" -- in fact, she supported it, and even hired a lobbyist in Washington to get more pork-barrel projects like it.
If the McCain-Palin campaign wants to have a debate about who is prepared to bring the change we need, we're more than ready. - Barack

Dear Sallah, Our foreign policy shapes America's image abroad, but America's role in the world is deeply personal for many of us here at home.
We remember how it felt when the American president had the moral authority to speak for free people everywhere.
Maybe you've traveled abroad and seen firsthand how in a few years George Bush has squandered the goodwill America earned over half a century. Maybe the decisions George Bush has made has sent your friend or family member into a war that should have never happened in the first place.
Barack wants to know why a new direction for our foreign policy and restoring America's moral leadership in the world is personal for you. Share your story here:
http://my.barackobama.com/stories
Today Barack gave a major address about why our role in the world is personal for him.
He's been to the border of the Darfur region and seen first-hand what happens when America will not step up and lead. He's seen first-hand that weapons of mass destruction in the former Soviet Union have not been secured under this president. He's met with Israelis and Palestinians who told him that true peace won't be achieved without an American president committed to making it happen.
And he's got concrete plans to right our course and rebuild America's global leadership. Today he laid out five initiatives that an Obama Administration will pursue:
* Bring a responsible end to this war in Iraq and refocus on the critical challenges in the broader region
* Modernize our overstretched armed forces, building the first truly 21st century military and show wisdom in how we deploy it
* Marshal a global effort to secure, destroy, and stop the spread of weapons of mass destruction
* Rebuild and construct the alliances and partnerships necessary to meet common challenges and confront common threats
* Invest in our common humanity to ensure that those who live in fear and want today can live with dignity and opportunity tomorrow
Barack Obama will be an American president who leads the world once again.
But this campaign isn't only about Barack Obama. A comprehensive agenda for America's foreign policy requires the input and participation of the millions of Americans who have a stake in the outcome.
We've provided a place where you can submit your ideas to add to the ones Barack laid out today. Your input will be a component of our policy development process and part of the ongoing expansion of our campaign's agenda. Share your ideas and priorities for America's foreign policy here:
http://my.barackobama.com/ideas
As Barack pointed out today, the position of "leader of the free world" has been vacant for some time.
For too long we've seen the consequences of a foreign policy based on a flawed ideology, and a belief that tough talk can replace real strength and vision.
How many millions of Americans and our allies abroad winced when Senator John McCain gleefully sang a tune about starting another war by bombing Iran?
As the Republican presidential candidates repeat the same tired White House talking points, one thing is becoming clear: Democrats have the obligation to turn the page and lead America into a new chapter in history.
With your help, Barack Obama can do that.
Thank you,
David

sallah,
A piece of paper will soon be placed on George Bush's desk in the Oval Office.
By picking up a pen and signing his name to it, he could end the war in Iraq.
The House and Senate united and passed a bill that would provide for our troops now and begin a redeployment from Iraq to bring them home.
We're just one signature away from ending the tragic mistake that has cut short thousands of American lives, cost tens of billions of dollars, and destroyed America's global moral leadership. But only if the president signs the bill.
I opposed this war from the beginning, and I would sign the bill to end it in a heartbeat.
If you would too, please take a moment to tell someone just how simple it would be to end this war:
http://www.barackobama.com/onesignature
All of the politics, all of the spin, all of the rhetoric means very little today.
The overwhelming majority of Americans want this war to end. The president must follow them.
America is one signature away sallah.
