Oh boy. The South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford (R) has had an extra-marital affair with a woman in Argentina. Its the big story on the news. This is the NOT the distraction we need when we are dealing with real issues like Iran (as "robo-cops"---militia men in head to toe body armor---throw protestors off bridges and hack people up with axes), North Korea (who want to fire a missle towards Hawaii, and say they will "wipe America off the globe"), terrorism in Pakistan, healthcare reform (Obama says he is positive his plan will become a reality), the possibility of a third HUGE bailout, and immigration reform. Another GOP politician, Senator John Ensign of Nevada, also admitted last week of an affair of his own. Both Republicans were possible 2012 presidential contenders. This is NOT what our party needs. We need to be strong and oppose these troubling changes to our country, not succumb to a real-life, sordid, tabloid soap-opera.
On a better note, us Young Republicans are continuing to fight the good fight. The LACYR, conservatives in LA from 18-39, are holding our Summer Kickoff Meeting on Tuesday June 30th in Long Beach, CA on the rooftop of Smooths Sports Grille on Pine Ave. Check out our website www.lacyr.org for details.
