Lots... movies, RV travel, marketing, copywriting, law of attraction, fiction, music, philosophy, history, motorcycles, culture and trends, and multimedia, internet stuff, and I used to mountain bike, ski, and sail...
I am a single malt scotch kind of guy, though I have learned to appreciate a great bottle of wine and port now too, along with a fine cigar. Love great steak... New York Strip... Cheesecake... also good.
I'm fascinated with the power of the Internet to connect people, both in business and socially... and have to pinch myself sometimes that I'm actually living in these times.
Love to read great books... I'm an information sponge. Love to learn... hate to be bored. Did I say Scotch?
Music
Everything from Mozart to U2, The Clash, Live, are long time favorites. Grew up on Classical music, George Winston, Windham Hill... and of course a new favorite, Michael Lee Austin.
Movies
Stuff like Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man, Lord of the Rings, and even stuff like Eurotrip sometimes. Not into horror or hate movies... just don't need that in my head.
Star Wars was my world as a kid and also Indiana Jones, Beverly Hills Cop, and Rocky, Good Will Hunting, Tin Cup, Field of Dreams, Bad Boys, The Rookie, and there will always be a place for Lethan Weapon and Top Gun.
Braveheart, anything with Tom Hanks, Meet Joe Black, Saving Private Ryan, Mutiny on the Bounty, Glory, Rudy, October Sky, and great 80's movies like Better Off Dead and Wierd Science and Breakfast Club are all my kind of movies. Gross Pointe Blank, classic.
Oh, Arthur, Anchorman, Happy Gilmore, Caddyshack, all great for me, too.
I like movies that tell of inspiration, success, overcoming the odds (Greatest Game Ever Played) and triumph over tragedy... as well as funny, off beat, and of course, great drama and adventure (love Pirates of the Carribean, goes great with Scotch).
Don't like unhappy endings, not into terribly dark humor or abstract stuff without a point (i.e. most of the foreign films I've seen).
Most recently, The Secret has been a running favorite...
Television
I'm careful about how much TV I watch... but I love a great story and study storytellers. BattleStar Galactica (The New version) is a surprise favorite. I also enjoy My Name Is Earl and Psych... but it's all on DVR.
Books
These days, I read lots of marketing and business books. Robert Collier Letter Book, Attractor Factor, Blink, Tipping Point. I'm into books on persuasion and influence, copywriting, trends, and history.
Heroes
As far as public figures... Einstein, great marketers and authors... big thinkers. Richard Branson, Oprah, Tony Robbins, all have influenced me.
If you look in my pics section, you'll see some of my marketing heroes... folks who are not only friends but people I admire (kind of a requirement for being a friend anyway). There are many more who aren't there due to the 16 image limit...
Many you wouldn't know... college professors, teachers, my parents, friends parents, family friends, all have strongly influenced me and in some cases, saved me.
Anybody who's done something real, has a great heart, has leadership qualities, and/or great humanitarian deeds is a likely hero for me.
Raw power and might doesn't really impress me. Success without value doesn't impress me... and politicians, in general, don't stand much of a chance at being heroes.
But I'm a big fan of Thomas Jefferson and the constitution... and Mark Twain.
About me: I'm best known as the Maverick Marketer (see MaverickMarketer.com), email marketer and list building guy.
In fact, if you're interested in Internet Marketing, go ahead and sign up for my popular newsletter and ecourse.
I love living in Austin, Texas with my sons. I also love my full time RV lifestyle as I can go anywhere the road takes me.
For me, my business is all about supporting my 'go anywhere' family life and having fun with my friends and business partners.
One of my passions is helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses online and often that means they get to escape the rat race (something I've hated my whole life).
I've lived and traveled around the world, from Vermont to the UK to Germany to Cape Cod and California, too, but I am now a Texas transplant and loving it.
..
Who I'd like to meet:
I'm very grateful to have already met most of my heroes.
As for networking on Myspace, I'm open to meeting fellow Internet marketers, infopreneurs and just about anyone who wants to be creative, make money and have fun. But if you are just trying to pimp your nudie webcam, not interested.
Just so you know, I'm also not interested in Network Marketing, MLM, or any variation thereof (even if your company is totally got something different and new). So don't add me to your friends hoping to sponsor me, ok? :)
I'd like to meet more incredible people who are really living life to the fullest... folks like Richard Branson, Tony Robbins, any of the authors I've mentioned, Stephen Spielberg, George Lucas, and a ton of actors and musicians, too.
"The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing."
