About me:

Actor, Richmond Duain Martyn, a native of Sierra Leone, West Africa, moved to the United States at the tender age of nine. Undeterred and ready to take hold of the American Dream Richmond threw himself into the arts. He, along with his brother and close friends, started a rap group (New Born Tribe) that went on to win many local talent shows. Although he loved music he found a new passion for acting after watching such movies like Bad Boys and Higher Learning. Impressed with the performance of Will Smith and Omar Epps, he remembers saying to himself: “Now this is what I was born to do!” So, he started a theatre group in his high school called Banneker Acting Coalition…BAC for short. With four of his closets friends, one being recording artist Young Joc, they took Banneker High by storm. Richmond and the BAC wrote, directed, and produced all of their plays. At one of their performances, he was discovered by Freddie Hendricks, the former Artistic Director of the Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta. Freddie took Richmond in and helped to develop him as a true artist. While in YEA he performed in Soweto!, Psalm 13, and created his leading role in B.L.A.C.K. He had the amazing opportunity to perform in Times, which garnered acclaim from Jane Fonda: “It was better than Rent!!” With the help of Freddie and the Youth Ensemble he performed in South Africa and was 1 of 3 actors chosen to travel to Amsterdam and perform with a local theatre company (Made in Da Shade). With his success in theatre it was only a matter of time before Richmond would transcend into film and television…and he did just that. In 2004 he landed a role opposite William H. Macy in the Golden Globe nominated TNT movie “The Wool Cap.” Richmond also landed the role of Mark in the hit film “Stomp the Yard” (courtesy of Sony Screen Gems) with Chris Brown and Neyo. He was also featured in Tyler Perry’s “Daddy’s Little Girls” in 2007. From the dirt roads of Sierra Leone to the star paved sidewalks of Hollywood, Richmond Duain Martyn is destined to be Hollywood’s next best thing!! ....SIERRA LEONE FLAG AS a past member of the Freddie Hendricks Youth Ensemble of Atlanta I have been blessed to travel the world performing.
