NEW MINI ALBUM "Cold Ruin" Out Now on Navigator Records, (www.navigatorrecords.co.uk).
Those wicked Essex rascals, Mawkin, have joined forces with the honey-voiced Jim Causley to form one hell of a boyband!
One of the best instrumental outfits to emerge in recent years, Mawkin have a string of festival and concert apperances under their belt. Bringing Jim Causley on board is a master stroke, as his gorgeous baritone voice is the perfect foil for their cleverly textured tunes and energetic performances.
A unique collaboration not to be missed. Debut Album The Awkward Recruit will be released in the UK in April!

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Hello chaps! Thanks for your friendship and we hope to see you up in the north west again soon (by which time I will probably have worn out my copy of The Awkward Recruit)
Hello all! Just been looking at things to do this summer and I'm planning on going to Sidmouth Folk Week and saw that you're playing! Woohoo! Have fun with the festival tour and hopefully see you later on in the summer.
Hi Jim, James, Alex, Danny and Dave All I can say as an organiser is that you did a fantastic gig at Faldingworth Live last night. It was a real pleasure having you here. Thank you so much. Best wishes for the future. Les Worrall
Fantastic gig! Thank you so much! Looking forward to playing the CD. Hope the rest of the tour is as brilliant, cheers, guys. (I must be getting old because I was drooling more over Jim's accordion than you guys!) OF course, your music was the important bit and it was captivating, dynamic, very accomplished and all packaged with a relaxed and friendly manner which totally won over every one within the first song. Best wishes with the rest of the tour Helen x
