Influences
All sorts of things...famous people, un-sung heroes, countryside, people you dont know; the world is one big melting pot.
Those wicked Essex rascals, Mawkin, have joined forces with the honey-voiced Jim Causley to form one hell of a boyband! One of the best instrumental outfits to emerge in recent years, Mawkin have a string of festival and concert apperances under their belt. Bringing Jim Causley on board is a master stroke, as his gorgeous baritone voice is the perfect foil for their cleverly textured tunes and energetic performances. A unique collaboration not to be missed.
Hi Guys ! Great to hear your new Band at the Leigh Folk Festival yesterday.I managed to video a couple of songs and have put them on Youtube (www. youtube. com/theuggyband )I hope this is OK. See what you think ! All the Best from UGGY BROWN.
hey Kiddos... Album's looking fantastic! You're all looking gorgeous and shirtless!! Thank you for the nice 'thanks' note in the album - really creative!
Hugo 'get' em off' Morris xx PS. let's hook up for a beer anytime!
so, where IS your music?! how are we meant to know what sort of a force we're reckoning with?! also, how about WE dress up as boyzone, and you dress up as girls aloud, would make for a pretty interesting encore!!!
I am speaking to you from my bed at Peel Tower, Lancashire, where the Lady Peel and I are recovering after the celebrated Loughborough Folk Festival. We've sore heads, to put it mildly, and I lost my dentures somewhere or other. (Perhaps one of your myspace readers picked them up by mistake. If so, return toute suite if not sooner, if you please. No questions asked!)
Where was I? Ah yes, I was an enthralled participant in the stonkingly good company of the MCs at Loughborough. What a show! (In a good way, myspacers!) Absolutely terrific. It just keeps getting better and better.
Good luck to you, you fine chaps you.
Sir Robert Peel
PS To get to Lancashire, turn left at Billericay, take another left at Bishop's Stortford and keep going.
I'm here for the Ribbon-Cutting ceremony. Clear some space, please, and let the founder of the Folk Police through!
We are gathered here today to unveil an impressive collaborative enterprise of great significance. Truly, a match made in heaven or some backroom of licensed premises after a few snifters of sherry. Who can say? Not me, I wasn't there.
I have added one of their delightful songs to my profile and it struck me that in 'Ye Mariners All' Master Causley sounds like a young Ian Anderson. No, not the Editor of Frooty Mag - the other one from Jethro Tull. Do keep up, everyone! Any chance that the chaps might consider covering Tull's marvellous 'Life's a Long Song', eh? No, I thought not, but the Lady Peel made me ask the question so let's move on.
I hereby declare Mawkin Causley open for business and I call for three cheers and a round of applause.
