Maxel Black, pro vocalist, songwriter, and lyricist is known for his powerful voice and captivating live presence. Formally front man for ..PENETRATOR.., Maniacal & Mastery he was nominated by the H.M.D in 2005 as BEST FRONT MAN OF THE YEAR. After flirting between various cover and original bands Maxel's first demo breakthrough came with Mastery in 2002. He co-wrote the music and they invited music guests bassist John Mamone of Dragonfly and guitarist Andrew Roudny of Blackhour to play on all the tracks. They recorded THE TRIAD. .... In the summer of 2003, Maxel met members of the band Maniacal. Maxel decided to join forces with the band and wrote the lyrics and melodies for all the songs on the demo in two weeks. Maniacal had already begun recording their tracks at Eclipse Studios in Mississauga, Ontario. Fellow Canadian Studio producer and master guitar shredder Glen Drover of King Diamond-Eidolon-Megadeth produced the demo Sinkhole to Hell. Glen stepped in during the recording adding layered harmonic guitar riffs throughout the CD. Maxel attacked the songs with a vengeance under Glens coaching. .... During the making of Sinkhole, Maxel hooked up with Toronto guitarist Bess Ross whom he was introduced to at a Dio concert. They decided to get together to work on a new music project. Before they knew it ..PENETRATOR.. was born. The bands material was written with lightning speed and people were soon pounding on the door to get into the rehearsal space. In the spring of 2004, Penetrator recorded the demo Unleash the Fury which received rave reviews worldwide. Penetrator later inked a worldwide distribution deal with Greece's Sonic Age Records. Maxel later hooked up with several players to form the band that was known as ..KRAKATOA.. a melodic thrash project that had comparisons to Nevermore. Krakatoa had the energy speed and song melodies that would linger on music fans long after the show. It wasn't long before the band started headlining shows and getting the attention of record labels. .... Maxel became involved as a political activist and joined EuroRock 2008 along with a host of other musicians. He went to Europe to take part in the Peace Full Sail in order to bring attention to the horrors taking place in today's world and need for world aid and understanding. During his career in Maxel shared the stage with such acts as Anvil, Cryptopsy, Eidolon, Death By Stereo, Protest The Hero, Overloaded, Arise And Ruin then known as Pure Blank, Self Inflicted, Kamelot and Seven Witches just to name a few. ........ .. .. .. .. .. .. ........ While we were filming our story we came upon an emergency situation. It was an emotional moment witnessing the refugees that were fleeing from Africa and landing on the shores of Las Palmas, some half dead. The journey for them all cramped into a tiny boat is treacherous and horrifying when you hear all the details. It made me realize that we need to bring stories like this to everyone's attention because they are all trying to escape the turmoil and horrors that are taking place in their country. This demonstrates the urgent need to move quickly to develop immediate solutions for all people that face these types of situations. People need to feel safe in their own country so we can end the conditions that create displacement... He has definitely become one of my favorite singers.....Nikkos Parastatidis, Behind The Veil .... ..... lead vocalist Maxel Black commanded the audience to come forth with his charismatic presence. This event in my eyes was historic. I have never witnessed such a passionate crowd that was totally and ruthlessly into a live performance.....MARK ST. JOHN (former writer of Meet Magazine and Scorcher).... .....Maxel brings a variety of talents to the band, mainly his powerful voice and wide vocal range. He knows how to get inside of a song and compliment it with his amazing vocal abilities and he is one of the few singers who really knows how to use his voice as an instrument......Fernando Villalobos, Krakatoa.... .....Vocalist Maxel Black weaves a web of varied pitches, even hitting octaves in King Diamonds league at times....Black's potential will undoubtedly be corralled and refined, and he should be downright lethal as time progresses.....Ray Van Horn, Jr., Pivotal Rage.... .....Vocalist (Maxel Black) reminded me much of Rob Halford, without touching his physical talent, but the way that Maxel changes his vocals reminded me much of him. Rumour has it that it will be a full moon that night, so get in touch with your inner night creature and come out for the GTA metal event of the summer
