Sounds Like
An amalgamation of sounds. We have heard that we remind people of artists such as:
Editors
The Cure
Muse
Radiohead
Coldplay
Remy Zero
David Bowie
But you will probably think otherwise once you've heard us.
WHO ARE WE? We are 5 friends in the Hollywood, CA area who have been playing music all our lives. In a never-ending pursuit of writing music that fuses our interests into something new, we are finding our way to the true and pure sound of Maximillion. It is a long road that doesn’t always lead a band to where they want to be, but we have been very lucky in distilling our music into something we are proud to call ’our art’ and which also has the potential to appeal to more than just our girlfriends. Oh, that’s right, we don’t have any girlfriends...! Hopefully we can blame that on our dedication level towards the music.
WHAT ARE WE UP TO?
We are back in the States after recording drums in Rome (12 songs), and are now tracking bass, guitars, keys and vocals here in Los Angeles. We are hoping to have the full-length recording done in early Spring.
Our first goal is to complete a quick 3-song demo from these recordings to begin booking several tour legs for next year, and getting the word out in advance of our record release.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE?
Would you like a list of our prior convictions? We have produced our own 3 song demo, currently being heard here on MySpace, complete with dog barks and horn honks (normal peripheral noise for a house in Hollywood), which somehow ended up mixed and mastered by some great heads, and then it miraculously spent 4 weeks in the Top20 on nat’l specialty radio, peaking at 7 where it effectively tied with Artic Monkeys and beat out Queens of the Stone Age (charting by FMQB). Our live performances have included the Viper Room, House of Blues (Sunset Blvd), Whisky a Go-Go, El Cid, Fais Do-Do, the Joint, etc. We filmed a video for "My Cell" on a budget of $500 thanks to the services of ShadowMind Productions (the vid can be seen below).
WHAT DO WE WANT OUT OF YOU?
Hmm...your feedback and comments about our music would be stellar. And if you have any friends who might dig our stuff, of course please feel free to turn them on to us, we are an independent band and this is how it’s done.
ANY BUDDHIST-LIKE OVERTONES TO ADD? Sure: Although making music is always about ’self’ at first - and why the hell not - it is also about fans of the music who take it out of our hands and into their own, and breathe their own life into it, and communicate with their friends thru it, and it becomes a small part of their lives, and here it comes full circle, as the greatest compliment the artist can receive.
Cheers
