Max's Interests
|
| General | I can read and write. I once spent a full day watching four baseball games. I express affection through cooking. I believe in Christmas no matter what your religion is. My life changed for the worse at ten, but I didn't know it until I was in my twenties. Things are better now - and that's the best thing about things. High culture is great, low culture is great, but liking both means you're never bored. If you can't spend three hours in a bathtub then you haven't tried. Oh, and I think Tom won the social networking lottery. | | Music | Lots. Anything British and poppyindie from 1989 to 1997. I'm playing The Stars' "Calendar Girl" a lot lately. Suede: best band ever, because they make me want to drink, dance, and get it on. Last year: Bloc Party, British Sea Power, Death Cab, Doves, Editors, The Format, The Game, Gorillaz, Go! Team, Hard-Fi, Kaiser Chiefs, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Maximo Park, New Pornographers, Radio 4, Russian Futurists, Saint Etienne, Stereophonics, Sugababes, Tears, U2, Wolf Parade. | | Movies | BORAT! WOW! | | Television | Look, the second half of the second season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" through to the end of season three is the greatest 40-episode run in the history of television. Anyone who tries to tell you differently hates you. Oh, and I like TVO's Vox Talk. It's smurfy. | | Books | I'm just about to start reading "Tamburlaine Must Die" and I am pretty excited about that. "The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Klay," "The White Hotel" I read a lot of shitty mysteries. And a lot of not so shitty ones: but I love Raymond Chandler most, I think. I read too many plays. Anything by W.H Auden, Timothy Findley, or J.D. Salinger. | | Heroes | Sure, but just for one day. |

About me:
I'm a pundit, I guess, or a guru. Or both! Wait, neither!
I own and run a communications company and host a youth-issues televison show. Here's my official bio:
"Vox Talk host Max Valiquette has made connecting with youth his life’s work. He’s president and founder of Youthography (www.youthography.com), Canada’s leading youth-focused communications agency. His varied expertise makes him one of the most sought after speakers on youth and pop culture in Canada today. Which means that he speaks to a lot of reporters, and makes speeches at a lot of conferences. But it’s not all bad – he gets to meet tonnes of interesting young Canadians and learn about almost everything going on in youth culture. Also, it lets him justify how immature he is. Word!
Max has a B.A. from the University of Ottawa, is a former Central Canadian Debating Champion, and has performed, with his sketch troupe, at some pretty cool places like Second City. Max enjoys watching “Veronica Mars” with Seamus, the world’s greatest dog, and isn’t afraid to shake it like he means it whenever there’s decent British pop music playing. He is really tired of writing about himself in the third person."
I am also extremely kind to animals, unless I am eating them.
