Maxwell Adams is looming large. This young, multi-ethnic, five-piece is ready to cut out its collective heart and leave it on the table for the public to dissect. From the depths of Soundwave Studios, the band exploded on the San Francisco music scene in late 2004 with a thirst for creating great music. Leading this outfit is: Kevin Gautschi with his ear catching melodies on the mic. Dispensing heavy hitting guitars and blinding style are: Nando Pozos and Chris Carrington. Sonically adhering to the foundation of the group are Garett Fujimura on bass and the man behind the band, humble Mac Atoms on drums. Their music influences range everywhere from RKL, Thrice, Tool and The Beatles all the way to Circa Survive and The Dillinger Escape Plan. While their style touches on more traditional pop song arrangements, the band keeps obscure and dramatic changes a central theme of their sound. In 2005 the band released a five song EP entitled “The Band Not the Man” and one year later released their full length album “Intellectual Hunger Strike”, defining the bands originality and charisma. With two records under their belt, along with endless local shows, they have jumped to the stages of great Bay Area venues such as Slim’s, The Great American Music Hall, Bottom of the Hill, and The Twelve Galaxies. In recent months, the band has been loading up the trailer and packing into their van for weekend tours playing places such as the legendary Whiskey a Go Go in Los Angeles and Kirkwood Ski Resort in Tahoe. In December 2007, the band was flown to Austin Texas to perform at renowned Stub’s Barbeque. Maxwell Adams is distributing their music with the Independent Online Distribution Alliance while selling their recordings on iTunes, Rhapsody, e-Music and more. As the New Year rolls in with a vengeance, Maxwell Adams is foaming at the mouth, brooding and ready. Expect crushing new music in the very near future.
"I've said if before, and I'll say it again until some A&R rep hears me: You're a small-scale band playing with the skill of seasoned professionals, and so many of the right ingredients are already in place for you that it'll just take the right outside support to push you toward that much-needed next level of eventually opening for a Serj Tankian or Tool, both of whose music yours brings to mind without sounding overly derivative of either."
