Max X:
Learned to play the drums at age 14 on a drum set made out of boxes, pieces of wood, a spring and the cut out bottom of a tin trash can
Played all the instruments on Ride In Your Eyes except the guitar on “Singin’ In The Rain” played by Esteban Lopez Blanco
Lived in a van in Los Angeles from 1994 to 1997 with a mattress, a Bunsen burner and a guitar where he wrote all the songs on the upcoming album, Dark Days
Got his name from a high school tennis teammate that called him “Mad Max” to pump him up for matches
Was influenced by 80’s alternative rock bands such as” The Psychedelic Furs, The Smiths, INXS, U2 as well as singer/songwriters Leonard Cohen and Chris Isaak
Writes songs about battling dysfunction
Wrote all the songs on the album, Ride In Your Eyes, in his car singing into a cell phone
Took piano, guitar and vocal classes at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte while getting a BA in psychology and playing on the tennis team
Has a weakness for organic red licorice
Was born Aug 22, 1969 in Concord Massachusetts
Once rented a large closet in an office building in Korea Town, Los Angeles for $100/month until they found out he was recording music and living there
Has a Mother who always played Roger Whittaker, Anne Murray and Barbara Streisand around the house
Spent 2 ½ years recording Ride In Your Eyes in a spare bedroom between teaching tennis lessons
