| 風格近似 | Attempting to categorise Maya29 is a tricky task. A band with many dimensions, their musical scope is as broad as the subject matter from which they draw inspiration - from euphoric & anthemic melodic rock to dark & emotive ballads, all underpinned by an urge to explore the limits of what is possible with voice, drums, guitar & bass.
Maya29 was founded by Karen Bradford & Jon Price as a writing & recording project, their self-released debut album Second Suicide receiving praise from national & local music press and numerous online reviewers.
A live band was put together to perform the growing repertoire of songs, and the present, well-established line-up, featuring Mark Mather (drums) and Nick Paul (guitars), is a powerful & confident live band which has performed extensively through Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, and as far afield as the Czech Republic.
Maya29 has continued to write & record, resulting in several EPs & the album-length collection Shikashu. The most recent and exciting project is The Fifth Sun - a 45-minute cycle of themed & interconnected songs which sees the band reaching further and confidently stepping into progressive concept album territory. |
