I Maybe6ix nascono nel 2006 da un'idea di Fausto Caravati e di Alessandro Cadario, due musicisti che da sempre si sono dedicati alla musica corale e vocale, con la collaborazione di quattro eclettiche voci attive nel panorama italiano: Tony Guerrieri, Luca Giugno, Tommaso Ferrandina e Krishna Nagaraja.
I Maybe6ix lavorano al fine di diffondere il meglio della musica pop italiana attraverso arrangiamenti originali che utilizzino le sole voci.
In questo tipo di nuova sperimentazione musicale ogni canzone diventa un singolare “madrigale” in cui l’arrangiamento polifonico esalta il significato e il suono delle parole: così nel bel mezzo di un brano pop c’è spazio per una fuga a 5 parti, tra una strofa e un ritornello troviamo battute in pieno stile contrappuntistico…il tutto senza perdere l'incisività della linea di basso e l’energia della percussione vocale.
Con questo strumento i Maybe6ix si prefiggono anche avvicinare i cori studenteschi alla polifonia a cappella utilizzando canzoni pop che i ragazzi conoscono e sono soliti cantare; per raggiungere questo obiettivo il gruppo organizza lezioni/concerto nelle scuole e in vari festivals.
Svolgono inoltre masterclass sulla percussione vocale, arrangiamento, laboratorio corale, tecnica vocale.
Maybe6ix was created in 2006 by Fausto Caravati and Alessandro Cadario, two musicians entirely devoted to choral and a-cappella music. They were soon joined by four of the most eclectic voices in the Italian a-cappella scene: Tony Guerrieri, Luca Giugno, Tommaso Ferrandina and Krishna Nagaraja.
The band's goal is to spread the best of Italian pop music through original arrangements making use exclusively of the voice.
In their innovative approach to arranging songs each piece becomes a "madrigal" where polyphony is used to underline the meaning and the sound of the words: a 5-part fugue can be found in the middle of a pop piece, or a strict contrapunctal passage can be heard between a verse and a chorus....all of this without losing the drive of the bass line and the groove of the vocal percussion.
Maybe6ix also focusses on bringing youth choirs closer to the a-cappella polyphonic style, since their material consists in songs that young people know very well; for this purpose Maybe6ix gives lessons and concerts in schools and festivals.
Each member of the group is also individually active as teacher giving masterclasses on vocal percussion, arrangement, choral singing, vocal technique.
Questo non è un album di “contaminazione”: la gloriosa tradizione contrappuntistica del Rinascimento italiano qui incontra la canzone pop nostrana nella sua tradizione più recente.
Non c’è banale citazione dei classici: una grande dose di ironia, al contrario, consente di avvicinare ascoltatori giovani e meno giovani alla musica di qualità, attraverso il pop.
Così ogni canzone diventa un singolare "madrigale" in cui l'arrangiamento in polifonia esalta il significato e il suono delle parole senza perdere l’energia delle percussioni vocali e del basso vocale.
Questo è il disco Maybe6ix: dettato dall’esigenza di sperimentare con la musica, concepito da musicisti per musicisti e per tutti gli appassionati del mondo della musica vocale a cappella, trasgredendo tutte le regole del marketing della musica pop ma seguendo un'intuizione, di sicuro un po' folle, ma irrinunciabile.
This is not a crossover album: the golden tradition of Italian polyphony is here inter-twined with the most up-to-date Italian pop songs.
No trite quotation of the great classics will be found here: a great deal of irony instead, allowing all listeners to get in touch with refined music, through pop songs.

Such is the Maybe6ix album: rooted in the desire to experiment with music, conceived by musicians for musicians and for all vocal and a-cappella music lovers, breaking all the rules of the pop marketing business but pursuing an intuition; an objective which might be slightly crazy but that surely can't be denied.
Il disco d’esordio dei Maybe6ix, perno attorno cui ruota questo progetto vocale, è stato ideato da Fausto Caravati e Alessandro Cadario: Fausto ha curato la registrazione e l’editing delle 9 tracce contenute nel disco, mixate e masterizzate poi da Bill Hare presso la Bill Hare Production di Milpitas (California, USA); Alessandro ha svolto il ruolo di direttore artistico. Suoi sono quasi tutti gli arrangiamenti presenti sul disco, ad eccezione del brano curato da Krishna Nagaraja.
La parte grafica è opera di Simone Pazienza, che è anche il webmaster ideatore del sito Maybe6ix.
L’album, interamente autoprodotto, è dunque il risultato di un lungo lavoro per diffondere il meglio della musica pop italiana attraverso arrangiamenti originali che utilizzino le sole voci.
The Maybe6ix debut album, backbone of the vocal project, was conceived by Fausto Caravati and Alessandro Cadario: its nine tracks were recorded and edited by Fausto, assisted by Alessandro as musical director, and then mixed and mastered by Bill Hare at Bill Hare Production in Milpitas (California, USA). All the arrangements are by Alessandro except one which is by Krishna Nagaraja.
The artwork was provided by Simone Pazienza, also webmaster of the Maybe6ix website.
Entirely self-produced, the album is the final achievement of a long process, aiming at the diffusion of the best Italian pop music through original arrangements using of the voice only.
