MAYHEM MOREARTY
Born and raised in Toronto's Lawrence Heights aka JUNGLE metro-housing complex, Mayhem Morearty brings his passion and determination to the mic like none before him.
A founding member of the group Hustlemann, Mayhem has received commercial and critical acclaim throughout Canada with a series of single releases, mixtape/dvd releases and live performances .
Mayhem views his music as autobiographical, an escape and therapy without which he would be certifiable. Whether rapping about the challenges he has faced in his life (incarceration, street conflicts and teenage fatherhood), spirituality (his religious beliefs and faith in God) or The better side of life (Women, parties and finances), Mayhem draws you in and forces you to relate. His fiery and intense stage show has been described as electric and captivating and has led to him opening up for major label recording artists Mobb Deep, M.O.P., The Clipse,Juelz Santana, Papoose, The Roots, Raekwon the Chef, Jim Jones and The Boot Camp Click. He has also and headlined successful Toronto concert series like Hoodies and Timbs, the Barbershop series and the LSM showcases.
His diverse musical influences (BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Tupac, Nas, Kool G Rap, Maestro Fresh Wes, the Getto Boys, Snoop Dogg, Otis Redding, Krs One etc.) have all led to Mayhem's understanding of artsistry and have helped his development into a true artist who can not only make great songs, but also touch on universal issues with his music.
Mayhem is determined to use his passion and determination take urban music from Canada to where it has never been the top of the industry. Breaking down the barriers that exist between urban Canadian and Urban American music in the process. ."I'm determined to have Avril Lavigne success with Canadian urban music. A lot of guys are rapping for daps, I'm rapping for plaques and that's the difference." - Mayhem Morearty aka Anarky. The future is here!
