Mazgani is a singer-songwriter who initiated his career with the release of the "Song of the new heart" album at the close of 2007. This debut was critically acclaimed by music journalists who championed its grand songs, beautiful melodies and a poetry that is hard to reconcile with the fact that it is, after all, a debut - a starting point.
His music can be described as a poetic analysis of the deepest emotions in our lives: love, in its geographies of desire and prayer; the fall and the suffering; guilt and solitude; all are sung about by his unique voice, with a rare passion in a profound desire for light and transcendency.
Shahryar Mazgani started singing in 2004, counting Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave and Tom Waits as some reference points for his newfound artistic voice. Beyond the poetry and the intensity of his themes, which he has presented live on tour throughout his national territory of Portugal, both in solo settings and with his band, Mazgani also counts on a stage presence that is worthy of those said influences.
Mazgani was also selected as one of the 20 best new European bands of the year by the prestigious French magazine Les Inrockuptibles.
Mazgani stood out among over 7.000 contestants of the Les Inrocks CQFD initiative, which aims to promote new bands. The 20 band final list was published in the magazine’s December edition, which included Mazgani’s original track, “Unageing Games”, in the CQFD compilation.
He is presently working on new material for new releases in 2009.

Laleh Pourkarim (born June 10, 1982 in Iran) is a Swedish singer-songwriter of Iranian origin. She came to Sweden when she was 12 and went to school in Gothenburg. She personally produced and wrote her 2005 eponymous debut album. At the Swedish Grammis Awards for 2005, she received seven nominations and won three: Artist of the Year, Producer of the Year, and New Artist of the Year. She also had a major acting role in the Swedish movie Jalla! Jalla!, directed by Josef Fares, which was a big success at the Swedish box office in 2000. Laleh Pourkarim still lives in Gothenburg, Sweden with her family. She studied music and drama at Hvitfeltska Gymnasiet.
