About me:

.. "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” (– Dr. Seuss) First off, I love dogs. I play bass, I'm an insomniac, a buddhist, a painter, an animal lover in general, and I am sick and tired of people who aren't "real". I guess it's because I used to be one of them...I was (in the past, yet parts of me still are...) a punker, a goth, a spooky artist chick, and a bunch of other things...but in the end, it's not what we look like but who we are on the inside that matters. I stopped worrying a long time ago about what I wore on the outside (exception being tattoos- haha) and started concerning myself with what I expressed from myself on the inside. I guess that's part of the wisdom you get with age. ;) Tippytoes, my muse (and one of my six Italian Greyhounds...yes, the numbers are growing!) got certified as a Therapy dog thru Therapy Dogs International, (and got her CGC award...that's "Canine Good Citizen"...an award given by the AKC for you non-dog people). We're also doing Agility training. Tip-pay rocks! VISIT MY NEW PAGE @ http://www.squidoo.com/hairofthedogdetroit Ya' might just learn something! ;) I just added a 2nd lens: http://www.squidoo.com/adoptadeafdog --Aurora Dior is my Deaf Chinese Crested. She inspired me to learn American Sign Language (she knows/understands almost TWENTY signs now!) is also a therapy dog. I ADORE her. If you're lucky enough, you just might meet her someday- or if you're REALLY lucky, you already have met her. ;)

Who I'd like to meet:

“Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.” I love people who are owned by & appreciate NAKED DOGS, (cresteds, xolos, PIO's...NEKKIDS ROCK!!!!), also iggies and their families, dog rescues and people with rescued/adopted dogs (you're the best...you know what I'm sayin'!) Pirates, self-proclaimed bitches, tough chicks, musicians, artists, animal lovers and responsible pet owners, anyone who shares my interests & are concerned with affecting change in the world. I quit my corporate job because I wanted to be able to sleep at night knowing the world will (hopefully) be a better place someday because I was here... I also love to meet interesting people and esp. those who are gifted or intelligent enough (or dumb enough) to make me laugh. Life's too short to take so seriously. Go laugh your ass off, you'll feel better. If you're simple yet complex at the same time, a walking contradiction, or just not everything you appear to be at first glance, then we have something in common.
Q: What do you get when you cross an insomniac, an agnostic, and a dyslexic?
A: Someone who stays up all night wondering if there is a Dog.

    Check me out!
(buy our cd at: http://cdbaby.com/cd/haflife -there are MP3's there too, and also on www.haflife.tv ) Primus, Ella Fitzgerald, Crystal Method, Rob Zombie, Tom Waits, anything from the 1920's, jazz, some ambient and techno, classical music, and way too many other kinds to mention. Let's just say I like pretty much everything except for country and opera.
  • Movies

"Breakfast At Tiffany's", Gone With The Wind, anything "Pirates", Amelie, Some Like It Hot, V For Vendetta(It should be "required" watching), Everything is Illuminated, True Romance, El Mariachi, Desperado, anything directed by Robert Rodriguez actually, House of D, X-Files, Alien (any of them) Young Frankenstein (RIP Peter Boyle), The Princess Bride, Immortal Beloved, Henry & June, Moulin Rouge, Big Fish, Best In Show (ha...I had to say that...), The Last Samurai, HP movies (yes I am "one of them"), any of the "classics" (Casablanca, GWTW, Sabrina, Maltese Falcon), any Star Trek movie (classic cast or Next Gen.- it's true, I'm kind of a nerdy girl), Chick Flicks (Clueless rocks! Legally Blonde...a close 2nd), I actually really liked Devil Wears Prada (didn't expect to!) ---Way too many others to list. Sometimes Chick Flix are the only thing I can watch to slow down/shut off my brain. It's my way of "shutting down" for a bit. Oh, I've seen Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind well over 100 times probably... a classic. Sci-Fi is pretty freakin' cool. I used to be a horror movie JUNKIE, but kind of got bored by it after awhile. Scariness and gore are fun for awhile, but w/o 'wit', I find it less entertaining. Man, I'm getting cynical in my 'old age'. HUGE Monty Python fan too. Yeah, I'm one of those who "gets" British humor. In the big picture though (haha, a pun!) I prefer to listen to music rather than watch TV or movies. My problem is that I have SUCH a short attention span that I can't sit still for more than about 15 minutes w/o getting up and needing to keep moving and doing things.
  • Television

X-Files, X-Files and More X-Files. Oh, and Futurama, Family Guy, Simpsons, SATC, The L Word, lots of HGTV stuff, FoodTv, Law & Order:SVU (Ice-T rocks), Most USA network shows. The Starter Wife was BRILLIANT, Monk is my hero, The Dead Zone? LOVE IT! And if you haven't seen Burn Notice, you're missing out. Bruce Campbell is awesome in it & almost doesn't have to act, he's just playing himself, a truly amazing character on his own! (Rock on Bruce!) I HATE REALITY TV! (ok, except for ONE show: Project Runway) it is the bane of our existence. If you are so boring that you need to live vicariously thru some "15 minutes of fame" loser's life on tv, then you need to get out more and live your own life. (Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now...) I either like cartoons or shows that make me laugh or teach me something- and if you watch T.V. at all you'll know those are all few and far between! I never really "watch" tv, it's just usually something I have on for background noise. I like Showtime because of the L Word, Californication & The Tudors. Penn & Teller B^llsh!t is awesome too. I'm a multi-tasker. I only 'watch' tv when I'm reading a book, working on my computer, or cleaning house...it's rare that I sit and watch anything exclusively.
  • Books

Image hosted by Photobucket.com.."The Alchemist" by Paolo Coelho. "Practical Intuition" by Laura Day, "Beyond Basic Dog Obedience" by Diane L. Bauman, "A Natural History of Love" by Diane Ackerman (also "A Natural History of the Senses") Anything by Anais Nin, Poe-etry, "Color: A Natural History of the Palette" by Victoria Finlay, "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene, "The Culture Clash" by Dr. Jean Donaldson, "The Work We Were Born to Do" by Nick Williams, "The DaVinci Code"- A MUST read!"Mists of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley, anything by Chopra or the Dalai Lama Various psychology/psychiatry books, anything written about philosophy by any of the 'greats' Simone De Beauvoir, Aristotle, Lao-Tzu I also like to read reference books. I love useless knowledge. (altho' I firmly believe there's no such thing). Someday I'll win millions on Jeopardy because I read an entire encyclopedia when I was a kid & I love almost any books in the 'reference' section of Borders or Barnes & Noble!
  • Heroes

My bestest friend for life-MD2020 (yeah, you Jamie!) Fox Mulder, Eddie Izzard (HILARIOUS! Check out Dressed to Kill. I bought the DVD and fall down laughing every time I watch it)Six words: "LA SINGE EST SUR LA TABLE!" hahaha! Ripley from Alien movies (She kicked ASS!ok, she's not a 'real' person, but add Sigourney Weaver to the list then if that makes u feel better!), Dame Evelyn Glennie (google her!amazing woman!), Annie Lennox, Mariska Hargitay, Heidi Zimmer (google her and find out who she is as well. She rocks! Literally...),Frida Kahlo, Tony Shaloub, Marlee Matlin, Robert Rodriguez (genius director).Scott (my tattoo artist!)(and Ms. Tiffany as well!) also tat artist Bob Tyrrell,(tho' I don't have a tat by him- YET) Dian Fossey, Cesar Millan (I know, controversial- but I won't deny that he's saved HUNDREDS of dogs who would've other been euthanized. Even if you don't like everything he does, he's still done more to at least TRY to help red zone/dangerous dogs than most people have), that said: the dog genius: Jean Donaldson, Albert Einstein, Pinky (my biggest hero), the Wright Brothers, V, Coco Chanel, Jeffrey Sebelia, Manolo Blahnik ;)~ , Salvador Dali said "No masterpiece was ever created by a lazy artist."
