McAlpine’s Fusiliers combine traditional folk instruments of fiddle, accordion and banjo with a punk rhythm to produce high energy and passionate music that is committed to continuing the burning social relevance of folk music.
Their Do It Yourself attitude has won them a large loyal fan base that sees them constantly hitting the road to play. They self released their debut cd "Sons & Daughters of the Soil" in June 2007 which was recorded at Pan Studios Geelong with Producer Sally Laver. A musical journey “where rebellion, toil, tradition, romance and brute honesty connect” (Mark Coombes KLFM ).
"These songs are firmly within the folk tradition, ranging from fast and furious tunes, begging you to dance, to the sort of lilting ballad you can see becoming a new standard. Central Victorian Girl is definitely my favourite – a love ballad set in Geelong. The Fusiliers give all this material a special treatment- ‘swaggie punk’ – loud, proud and uncompromisingly Australian” (John Lamp The Pulse).
Since forming in 2004 bands performances have included: The Queenscliff Music Festival, The Yackandandah Folk Festival, The Beechworth Celtic Festival, Pako Festa and The National Celtic Festival.

Once again I have a favour to ask of everyone out there in the MySpace world, and I’m sorry because I know these things can get a bit annoying, but every vote counts, and I am happy to return the favour if you need me to vote or rate anything of yours, so… if you get the chance could you please rate my new song “Million Miles Away” on Triple J Unearthed?

This Saturday night, October 10, I will be doing a gig in Bendigo. Yes, BENDIGO!
It will be held at the Basement Bar, 17 View Point in the centre of Bendigo, opposite the Alexandra Fountain. I will be on at around 8pm as opening for The Old Buzzard Medicine Show, an awesome blues/country/acoustic band with a female lead singer/harmonica player in it! I first met them at last year's Maldon Folk Festival.
If you're in Central Victoria, please come along and see me in my (sort of) hometown gig.
