MC Beau is an MC/vocalist/producer originally from Auckland, Aotearoa currently based in Dunedin.
He came to the attention of Aotearoa’s Hip Hop scene winning Dunedin’s 'Battle For Supremacy' in 2004, competing in Auckland for the national title in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
He’s claimed Queenstown’s 'Battle Royal' three times. In 2007 he won the
'Duds City Stars' MC Battle followed by the 'Revolver MC Battle' before retireing from the battle scene.
However! Make no mistake he is much more than a “Battle Rapper”
As a member of Subz ‘n’ Breaks & Soundclash Beau has forged a formidable reputation as host MC for Hip Hop, Reggae, DNB and Dubstep gigs. Gracing the stage with Lady 6, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Concord Dawn, The Upbeats, Pacific Heights, Trei, Breakfastaz and countless others.
He’s supported internationals Lee Scratch Perry, Expansion Team Soundsystem, DJ Fierce, LTJ Bukem, MC Conrad, Roni Size and Dynomite MC, DJ Zinc, N-Type, Loefah and more.
Late 2006 Beau established his label 'Dudstown Recordings' releasing four street albums thus far...
'The Bootleg Mixtape' Volumes 1 and 2 feat. Beau & partner in crime Max Dad E, 'School of Thought' from local prodigy Esdee and Beau's solo Mixtape 'Suits, Beats & Block Letter T's'
In light of these achievements Beau, Max Dad E & Esdee featured in “Back 2 Basics” Vol. 3 issue 9.
In 2007 Beau founded the 'Dudstown' clothing label building on Dunedin’s strong reputation in the fashion industry.
Exclusively stocking Belle Bird (a well known Dunedin fashion Boutique) Beau’s expanding the range and stockists throughout 2009. Collaborating with graffiti artists/photographer Nigel Roberts, Sean Duffel. The full range will be available winter 2009.
Musically 2008 saw the release of Beau and Max Dad E's 'The Bootleg Mixtape Vol.2' featuring guest MC’s/Producers Esdee, Emerald, Miso, Amin Payne, Munz, MR Methodical and Official. In conjunction with the mixtape Beau & Max released their debut music video for the Amin Payne produced single 'Our Sound'
Currently Beau & Max are recording Vol. 3 of their mixtape series. Soundclash Soundsystem a Dancehall/Reggae crew comprised of Selectors Mr J, Special K and MC Beau are also set to release their much anticipated mixtape mid 2009.
