  • Bio

The M C Booze Band was formed in the fall of 1995, and consisted primarily of a jazz trio and vocalist. Since its inception it has grown into a five–piece jazzy-R&B, top-40 band. The current version has Marshall "Boozie" Booze on guitar, Mike Holliday on keys and trumpet, Tony Jones on bass, Anthony Booze on drums, and Mary Fair on keys and vocals; all under the leadership of Marshall C. Booze, Jr. Boozie began playing professionally in his early teens. During the ensuing years, he had the privilege of performing with the likes of Sonny Stitt, Mickey Fields, and Richard 'Groove' Holmes to name a few. He played for some time around the Baltimore- Metro area with the Dave Ross Trio, Carlos Johnson, Johnny Polite, and Arnold Sterling. Previously, Boozie has recorded with various groups, including a solo endeavor with studio producer and composer, Neal Conway. In 2002, the M C Booze Band released 'Live At The Baltimore Waterfront Jazz And Arts Festival'. In 2004, he flew to Detroit to record with the legendary Sir Thomas Hurley. The M C Booze Band's 'Live At The Baltimore Jazz And Arts Festival' was a very successful endeavor for the band. The players were Marshall Booze on guitar, bringing leadership simply from all his vast years of experience; Michael Holliday on trumpet, keys, and vocals, and a genius at music arranging; the late Reginald Braxton on bass and vocals; Tito Gaither on drums bringing that strong D.C. funk that blended so well with Reggie's ole school flavor; and Mary Fair on vocals and keys, adding the soul with her strong gospel background. This CD was recorded live at theBaltimore Waterfront Jazz and Arts Festival Part II on Saturday, September 29, 2001 in Scenic Middle Branch Park. It was coordinated by Ramir Bey and hosted by WEAA 88.9 Radio's Sassa. Now Boozie guides his band into a new era, his talent inspiring his musicians to peak in their effort to excel. Their sound remains the sweet, mellow, soulful, yet funky, sound of the M C Booze Band. Their newest CD is Boozin' released in July of 2010.
