-------------------
Alberto Mendoza, otherwise known as MC Ceja, was born on February 15, 1978 in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He was raised both in Brooklyn and Puerto Rico alongside his younger brother and sister.
Ceja started in the music business at around age 13 in talent shows and local town parties. At a young age, he was already able to compose songs to make fun of his teachers and fellow classmates. He was able to breakthrough the genre after meeting reggaeton producer, DJ Eric, over the telephone. Ceja played one of his songs for Eric and what happened next was only the beginning for the new Puerto Rican hip hop king. Ceja released his first song “Dame ese Blunt”, back in the day when recordings were made on underground cassettes. Ceja was then able to appear in productions such as “Hip Hop Reggae Mix,” “Street Style 1”, “Street Styel 2”, and “Dj Eric Industry Vol. 1-5.” After the release of “DJ Eric Industry 3”, in 1997, Ceja launched his first album as a soloist called “Luz Solar,” selling over fifty thousand copies, which is more than great for a Latin rapper at the time. His hit single “Confusion” was part of this production and was number 1 in the charts for at least 10 weeks.
In his collaborations with DJ Eric, MC Ceja meets Lito and Polaco, and later on in their careers they form the group known as “Los Tres Mosqueteros.” At the time Lito, Polaco and Ceja worked together for DJ Eric’s “Industry 4”, a lyrical war started between them and another notorious reggaeton group, The Noise, which at the time had artists such as Baby Rasta, Gringo and Bebe. In 1998, before the release of “Los Mosqueteros,” Ceja was able to produce another album as a soloist named “Todo ha cambiado”, with another hit single “Te Invito al Party”. Soon thereafter, the group split and they started a war among themselves.
In 2001, he kept working with DJ Eric on his third album, “Boricua State of Mind,” with the single featuring Wisin and Yandel, “Desnudate”. He also collaborated with Pina Records, for “La Conspiracion Vol. 1”, “The Company” and “La Conspiracion Vol 2,” with hits such as “Yeah Yeah” and “Dile a El.” Ceja also came out strong with his rough hip hop lyrics in Daddy Yankee’s “El Cartel Vol. 2.”
MC Ceja had the opportunity to record with worldwide known artists such as Tempo, in the production “Game Over.” He has also recorded with artists like Ivy Queen, Big Boy, Baby Rasta, Special Ed, Yaviah, Ghetto and Gastam, among others. Ceja also appeared in various artist compilations such as “Majestic,” “La Mision 1 – 3,” “DJ Frank: Time to Kill,” “Da Cream,” “Warriors 2,” “Wise Da Gansta,” “Dream Team,” and “Sopranos.”
In 2003, searching for a different type of market and style to his music, Ceja moves to United States and is blessed with having a son and a daughter, marking a time in his life were responsibility and achievement are a top priority. In 2005, his most recent collaborations include featurings with Cuban Link in “Buddha’s Family: Desde la Prision.” Ceja appeared in this production with three songs, among them his single, “Mr. Conflicto” and demonstrated once again that he is the king of microphone.
Ceja is currently working alongside Get Low Records, LLC., on his fifth production as a soloist called “Story Teller: The Mixtape Album,” which should be in stores in 2009, with the best in rap, hip-hop, reggaeton, and dirty south. It is packed with bold lyrics that compliment Ceja’s bilingual flow and stamina. Stay tuned to the page to get the latest on MC Ceja, his next album and his upcoming shows!!!!!
