I have a diverse musical background. Driving in my car, I find that I tend to gravitate mostly towards either orchestral rock or singer/songwriters. My favorite band is Electric Light Orchestra. My favorite showman is Jon Mikl Thor. My favorite singer is Harry Nilsson.
Of course I'll probably be listening to Cephalic Carnage or Inhuman Disilliency in between. :)
Electric Light Orchestra, Thor, Sparks, Cannibal Corpse, Black Widow, The Traveling Wilburys, KISS, Roy Wood, Wizzard, Demilich, Mercyful Fate, The Alan Parsons Project, Goblin, Ennio Morricone, W.A.S.P, Bathory, Harry Nilsson, The Monkees, Yes, The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, The Mentors, Gojira, Cock and Ball Torture, Blasphemy (Gods of War!), Beherit, Vlad Tepes, Raven, Malevolent Creation, Necro, Ill Bill, Non Phixion, Dethklok, Korovakill, Riz Ortolani, The Smiths, António Variações, Amália Rodrigues, Mariza, Madredeus, Carlos Peredes, Vince Dicola, Fabio Frizzi, Pentagram, Bedemon, Witchfinder General, The Obsessed, Rush, Acheron, Infernal Torment, Genocaust, Gary Glitter, The Glitter Band, Lou Reed, Butch Willis & The Rocks, Bobby Beausoleil & the Freedom Orkestra, Sun Ra, The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, negativland, Magma, The Residents, Christian Death, 45 Grave, Joy Division, Macabre, Morte Macabre, Gracious!, The Flower Travellin' Band.... The list is endless. OK, face it. I like composers, glam rock, death metal, hippy shit, and some goth crap.
Just a brief update. It has been pointed out to me that I like "heartbreaking lyrics". I can't argue with that. One thing I've forgotten to mention in the list above is my LOVE for AM Rock. I love The Carpenters, The Walker Brothers, Olivia Newton-John, etc.

"In regards to nudity I suffer from The Artist's Dilemma. I've come to the conclusion that there are two types of audiences; those that come for the boobs and stay for the art or those that come for the art and stay for the boobs. What choice do I have?"
- Matthew Reel, 2008
Originally from West Virginia, I'm now in Vail, AZ. That's just south of Tucson, just in case you're wondering. I studied opera for nine years, I took a good ten years off from it. My hobby, among other things, is cross stitch. I'm currently a filmmaker and artist with lowbrow and absurdist tendencies. I am a bit pretentious and anti-social, I listen to porn soundtracks, prog rock, and death metal...
That's just for starts...

"Brutal and unsettling, yet oddly poetic. ... Matthew Reel is an imaginative and artful filmmaker with a comprehensive grasp of the medium’s history, and he uses it to good, if sometimes disorienting, effect. His influences range from experimental directors such as Kenneth Anger to schlockmeisters like Joe D’Amato and Michael Findlay, and all are on display. Though the film feels somewhat derivative at times, Reel’s work is highly personal and it must be said that Jessicka Rabid looks like nothing else out there today."

"Jessicka Rabid is a film with a definite haunting mood to it. The background musical score adds to this dark feel permeating the film. There is a visual aesthetic within Jessicka Rabid that makes one feel as if they were viewing a film from the 1970’s. Under this paradigm it may fall under the label of homage to the Grindhouse genre. This is something that only strengthens the films mood. Jessicka Rabid is a horror film in its purest and most primal sense."

"The look of the film is really amazing. If it wasn't for some of the modern devices in the film like the cell phones I could have sworn this was some lost film from the 70s. Matt Reel really did a great job with the look and overall tone of the film. This is not just a grindhouse rape/revenge film. It really comes across much like a documentary or an art film. This is a movie that I can see definitely making some noise at film festivals everywhere."

"Jessicka Rabid seems like the kind of obscure '70's exploitation movie that you could only find on bootleg on eBay. The whole look and feel of this flick, which marks the feature debut of indie filmmaker Matthew Reel (who had previously cut his teeth on short films), is pure 'grindhouse,' the kind of movie you could imagine being shown in a sleazy New York theatre on a double bill with The Last House on Dead End Street."
Christian Sellers, Gorezone Magazine

"From the very opening sequence of JESSICKA RABID, you immediately get the eerie feeling that this is something that you should not be watching. That's just how well Writer/Director Matthew Reel carefully crafted this low budget throwback to America's most dingiest Grindhouses."

"Matt Reel = ARTIST!! Matt there ain't an indie filmmaker out there who you don't lay to fucking waste!! Jessicka Rabid was a thing of beauty! I've always supported and dug the hell out of your work. Jessicka managed to surpass my expectations."
Richard R. Anasky, director of Actress Apocalypse
"Truly brutal and primal. "Jessicka Rabid" achieves a level of originality that most indie filmmaker can only dream of. A sickly sweet love story, that will rape your senses. "Jessicka Rabid" locks you into a world of chaotic innocence, where the only way out is to either change the channel or change yourself."

Cult-Stitch...
Cult-Stitch (Original Cross Stitch Pieces)
When I'm not making movies... Fuck around hobby?
Cult-Stitch began back in 2003 when I was visiting some estate sales. I studied a lot of cross stitch pieces along the way, and all of em seemed to be angels, cottages , or puppies. I figured I needed to hijack the medium. I've since sold a number of them.
Those are some of the cross stitch pieces I've done. I seriously need to get back to work on them. And yes, some of these pieces are for sale!
