We'll top off the evening with a hearty buffet dinner and tell colorful stories about McGillin's - including tales about Ma McGillin's ghost, surviving prohibition with very "strong" tea," and about the two families that have lovingly owned and restored the tavern and more. Begins at 6;30 p.m. Advanced ticket needed. $45. Limited to 40 people.
St Practice Daze -- We begin our countdown to St. Patrick's Day with St. Practice Daze on February 19 & 20. Live Irish music by those Bad Boys from Boston, Patsy & John. If you're pub crawling this month, add a stop at McGillin's. If you're going to Philadelphia's St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday, March 14, stop by to warm up. And, then, get ready for the city's oldest and best St. Patrick's Day celebration on March 17!
Flower Show - Looking for a cozy, close, inexpensive place for lunch or dinner before or after your visit to the Philadelphia Flower Show? Sit by our fireplace and enjoy a meal & flower themed cocktail -- Violet Lemonade, the Lemoncello Martini and the Rose-hip Martini & floral beers. Pair it with something from our Flower Show Menu -- Pennsylvania Dutch Pot Pie, served in a real clay flower pot, Garden State Garden Vegetable Quiche & more. Every lunch comes with a free bowl of homemade soup. The Flower Show, February 28 - March 7, is held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, located just blocks from McGillin's.
Anniversary Celebration - On Wednesday, April 7, we'll celebrate the 77th anniversary of the "beginning of the end" of Prohibition and McGillin's 150th anniversary with a massive celebration. On that day in 1933, bars were permitted to start selling 3.2 beer. Ma McGillin symbolically re-opened the bar's liquor cabinet, put away the "tea" cups and brought out the beer mugs! On that day in 2010, we'll rollback our prices, wear historic costumes, and dedicate a plaque marking our anniversary. And, boy oh boy, will we bring out the beer mugs! Don't miss this historical event!
Philly Beer Week -- We're already planning for Philly Beer Week, June 4-13. We'll hold the biggest, best party in our 150 year history on Sunday, June 6. And, we'll once again, host the pub crawl after-party on Tuesday, June 10.
Historic Trivia Contest & Historic Request
