Bio:

Growing up in Ghana, Mciesta displayed great talent and flair for music and Dance. HIPLIFE music developed in Ghana in the 90s. This was a blend of hip-hop and highlife music and sung in English and various Ghanaian dialects respectively. By the way there are about 80 dialects in Ghana. At 13, Mciesta wrote her first HIPLIFE song in the root Ashanti language; Twi. Alongside other great artists of the day, she pioneered revolutionizing the music of her generation, blending tradition with modern-day trends. Working with the then renowned music artists; X-Doe, Tic-Tac, Rambo, Nananom and Jay-dee (all of Ghana), her excellence in both rap, singing and writing songs in English and Twi languages was clearly evident. She relocated to Austria in 1998, shortly after which she was crowned “Miss Ghana in Austria”. It was here that she was discovered by DJ Lady Soul, launching her unto the Austrian music scene. Interviews at Radio Orange and other media’s, further fuelled her becoming a unique sensation. Her stunning performances at the Rathaus, Volksgarten, Palais Eschenbach, Reigen etc were well received and would later lead her to an all girls rap pop band by the name “VERTICIS”, which had an afro-Austrian blend and a unique class of its own on stage. In addition, she also worked together with Simone and Sandra from the group with children and young adults holding music and dance workshops. As a dancer, singer and song writer, the music of MC is highly diversified and ever changing, cutting across generations. Reggae, Reggaeton, House, Hip-Hop, R&B, Gospel and pop music are her favourites. .. ..



Mciesta kommt aus Ghana und hatte schon immer eine Leidenschaft für Music und Tanz. In den 90ern entwickelte sich in Ghana ein neuer Musikstil namens Hiplife, eine moderne Mischung aus Hip-Hop und Hilife. Mit Hiplife fingen viele Jugendliche in Ghana zu rappen an, erstmals auch in den lokalen Sprachen –in Ghana gibt es 80 davon. Bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurde ausschließlich in English gerappt. Mit 13 Jahren schrieb, die in Accra lebende Mciesta, ihren ersten Rap Song in Twi (Stammesprache der Ashantis in Kumasi). Da Rap damals von Jungs dominiert wurde, war es nicht leicht sich durchzuschlagen. Diese Herausforderung nahm sie aber gerne an und arbeitete mit verschiedenen Kuenstlern, wie X-Doe, Tic-Tac, Rambo, Nananom, Jay-dee. Nach und nach schrieb sie ihre Raps dann auch in Englisch. 1998 kam Mciesta nach Oesterreich, nahm an der Wahl zur “Miss Ghana in Austria” teil und wurde zur Siegerin gekürt. Bei dieser Veranstaltung wurde sie von DJ Lady Soul endeckt und in die oesterreichische Musikszene durch Interviews bei Radio Orange und verschiedenen Auftritten, eingeführt. Unter anderem trat sie in verschiedenen Locations auf: Volksgarten, Rathaus, Palais Eschenbach, Reigen, Hotpepper, B72,Volksgarten, Sofiensaele, Baobab,usw 1999 kam Mciesta in eine Girlband namens Verticis. Simone, Sandra und Mciesta haben damals als eine der Ersten Rap Groups gerockt. Mit Ihrer afro-austro Rap Kombination waren sie sensationell. Sie hielten im Rahmen des Programms Jugend in Wien auch Workshops fuer Kinder und Jugendliche mit dem Titel “How to learn to Rap” ab. Mciesta hat ihren Stil immer wieder neu entwickelt und geht somit mit Ihrer Musik in viele Richtungen, wie Reggae, Reggaeton, Hip-hop, R&B, Gospel, Haus und Pop Musik. Die letzten Jahre trat sie bei diversen Veranstaltungen auf, wo sie sowohl sang, als auch tanzte.
