In 1996, amidst a 2 year plus period of incarceration SKURGE was born within my mind. An MC named by one word; a word with a definition describing so precisely the angle of hip hop SKURGE expresses. Grimmey B-Boy Battle rap. Wordplay. Straight up eating the beat! The word defines feelings SKURGE has towards all the wack shit in the hip hop music industry as well as in the streets. So, as a tool of punishment, a disease to wack MCs, Skurge put the pen to the pad and used time spent in an institution to lyrically and stylistically battle other cats, proving his ability to devastate. The Recording industry and a Global audience became the next targets.
In 1998 SKURGE met DJ Slim, now better known as Jae Synth, of Underground Movement Sounds and its been on and crackin' since then. Local favorites like Footsteps in the Sand, Trivial Pursuit, and At the Same Time were created during this period. With a taste for the Jungle/Drum'n'Bass sound SKURGE became a devout Junglist MC(arguably one of the best Junglist MCs on the West Coast) and could be seen rocking at various Raves & parties in California and Nevada alongside Dj's like Slim'n'Tofu, Billy Lane, R.A.W., Reason, Kron, Dotcom, and Taboo.
SKURGE is one of four MCs in the Northern California-based hip hop group Righteous Movement, further displaying his versatility. Going by alias P.r.o.f.i.t. , which stands for Purposely Reaching Out For Independent Thinkers, Skurge touches on heavier subject matter, and real life issues, for those who like a little substance with their style.
