Wattson hails from the north suburbs of the Chi. Raised in a rich musical background, Wattson became inspired by conscious hip-hop artists in his early college years. College took Wattson to St. Louis, where he began performing regular shows with his live instrumentation hip-hop group Sac Lunch, ultimately self-producing a full length LP. The first solo release, Wattson's Whodunnit? EP, contained production from Outflow Productions and Skinny Frieds of Real Nice Records.
Wattson's style ranges from deeply personal to political, with the occasional shit-talking track peppered in. With complex schemes, substantive, often literary topics, Wattson fits in nicely with the backpacker crowd without sounding too pretentious for the street crowd. With "Trouble Brewing on Baker Street... The EP" released and the Watts and Visto's "Native Stranger EP" set to release in 2009, look for big things from this intelligent young artist.
