the endless sound of the sea.los angeles.interpreted by m.deragon.
devices/tools: laptop, ableton live, protools, h4 portable recorder, toys, conversations, tea pots, blenders, coffee maker, ocean, the bath tub, the sink, the train, dog, cat, garbage truck, static, neighbors, traffic, random hums, helicopters, etc.
m.deragon, a former professor of surrealism/film/poetry, most recently released you left me haunted under the tag of the great invisibles. this release was put into the world by broken sparrow records.
under this new incarnation m.deragon uses field recordings (primarily of the sonic dictionary known as los angeles) in order to compose audio collage/soundscapes that display dense layers of sound and manipulations of the sonic events of los angeles and the western sea.
currently, there are three cdrs in the works. m. uses ableton live and protools as both instrument and recording platforms. occasionally, these pieces are colored with toys, a piano, voices, household machines and other almost musical instruments.
this pg. features these recordings along with m's artwork and other ephemera.
m. will continue as the third person substance of michael deragon.

CIAN NUGENT 'Childhood, Christian Lies & Slaughter' CD Cian Nugent is a 19 year old guitar player from Dublin who combines squicky pre-war blues, Appalachian string band music, and the Takoma school into a deeply personal style. This cd documents a great live set, produced by Jozef Van Wissem.
i went to barnes and noble the other day and pretty much tripped over this big book that happened to be a coffee table photo book type thing. titled Man Ray.
the sticker said 6 dollars. i think it was originally 30. its my first coffee table book for my new apartment...though mark did make a good point that i dont have a coffee table yet. o well. that comes later.
