   About Matthew D. Guarnere / M.D.G.

Matthew D. Guarnere / M.D.G. Biography

Vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and engineer / producer Matthew D. Guarnere (pronounced Gwar • nair • e) has been art rock infected since he was a child. Though he’s never signed a record contract, the self-taught Guarnere has still managed to produce a single, EP, full-length album, or video nearly every year since he was in high school. In 1991, the Rochester, New York native launched his What’s Real Unlimited label and recording business. In 2001, Guarnere's CD entitled M.D.G. received stellar reviews in rock & progressive rock magazines, fanzines and websites all over the world.

After years of development in the studio, Guarnere was finally ripe and ready to hit the stage. Since the mid-90's, M.D.G. has fronted his own band, duo, trio, tribute band, and numerous collaborative projects. Performing live has become Guarnere's prime directive, but he has always been frustrated with some members’ unavailability to tour. Guarnere is now seeking the lead singer position in a solid, musically exciting outfit that has no such limitations.

As a musician and audio engineer, Guarnere has traveled clear across the country and other parts of the world. Destinations such as Russia, Germany, The Netherlands, England, and Canada have truly helped Guarnere cultivate a much greater awareness and appreciation for different cultures and musical styles.

Matthew D. Guarnere has previously collaborated with rock guitarists, Derek Frigo (Enuff Z’nuff), Paul Chapman (UFO/Waysted), and George Bellas (Shrapnel Records). Guarnere has also performed improvisational works with jazz trumpet virtuoso, Paul Smoker.

Yeah, it's a good idea -- we mostly have video though, and we're at a serious lack of internet access -- but soon, I hope! :) J

Yeah, I find that ProTools just sucks all the life out of a nervous breakdown. You just can't beat the natural compression on those high decibel screams.
