About me:

'1 Top Class Manager - The notebooks of Joy Division's manager 1978-1980'
OUT NOW!
'1 Top Class Manager' is a collection of Rob Gretton's working notebooks kept during his time as Joy Division's manager.
It condenses twenty notebooks into one volume, and also contains posters, letters, invoices, diaries and studio notes, dating from August 1978 to late 1980. It is a full-colour, 220-page softback with a foreword by Jon Savage. Design is by John Coulthart with Lesley Gilbert and Abigail Ward.
'1 Top Class Manager' is strictly limited to 1500 copies.
To secure a copy, you can order from direct from the '1 Top Class Manager' website or go to Vinyl Exchange, 18 Oldham Street, Manchester and buy a copy over the counter.
Customers buying the book directly from the '1 Top Class Manager' website site will have access to an exclusive ‘members only’ area, which contains extra material from the Gretton archive.
'1 Top Class Manager'is published by Anti-Archivists in association with Manchester District Music Archive.

“A call to arms from the perilous waters of the Island. Kinfolk cower in their homes as wild squalls rage fury on us. A far cry from the glassy seas and towering swells from which we profited only a few days ago. Respite cruelly prized from our grasp, our hopes of reprieve in calmer seas lie tattered, at least for now. Scathed but not scarred, we persist through relentless gales and cloudbursts on the fringes of the ocean, passing the church in the bay where many a reveler and mourner has been left stranded at high tide. Through fortune and fortitude we reach the shore and are greeted by warm fires, zestful ales and hearty tales shared with our good friend, (sadly soon to depart us). For the storm has abated and the bow has settled. We wipe our blinkered eyes, ravaged and weary; the majestic scenes enveloped by the Island in a blind rage, ever imprinted in our minds”...
