Winter Park, FL – In the year 2006, Mike Dunn recorded some songs. He self-released those 6 songs under the band name “Mike Dunn and The Kings of New England” The songs on the EP, titled “The Edge of America”, is a testimony of growing up listening and playing along to his favorite records. Records like “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty, “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen, “14 songs” by Paul Westerberg and you know the rest…..
In the year 2008, Mike Dunn and the Kings of New England signed a record deal with P is for Panda, an imprint of Hopeless Records. Look for their debut full-length album “Sundowner” to come out in the fall of 09.
PRAISE FOR THE EDGE OF AMERICA E.P.
"After the first listen I found myself singing along to the upbeat tracks reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen. "Paper Candy" and "The Queen" compelled made me to sing harmonies, whether or not I was on. We all sound good in our cars, right? While there are rock n' roll driven tracks like my sing-a-longs, there are also piano ballads, harmonica and acoustic guitar. If you like Pete Yorn and Tom Petty, this is a no brainer."
- REAX MAGAZINE
"The infectious combination of acoustic guitars, pianos, and the tone of his electric comes together almost flawlessly, creating hooks like a factory, giving the whole album a sing along feel to it, making it something you want to be a part of. And that's the best thing you could ever want out of a record."
- RISE AND REVOLT
"The upbeat, wide-open rocker is unquestionably Dunn's strength and the record largely plays to that. The supremely anthemic "Paper Candy," a celebratory paean to the idols of youth, opens things with his best foot forward. The infectious stomp of "Breathe In" sighs with sweet immensity, the broad twangs of "Get Up" sweep with shades of Tom Petty and the interstate love of "The Queen" will have you rolling down the windows and pressing the gas."
