Work in Prozac
Was born 17 December 1986, started playing piano/fiddle/violin at 5. Did classical grades up to grade 8. Got the violin I play now (Magini copy) when I was 12 from my dad. Attended Gaelcholáiste an Chláir (Ennis): an interesting school, where I had the opportunity to study Japanese (ás Gaeilge!) for my Leaving Cert. I entered Fleadh Ceoils and other competitions when I was younger.I don't like competitions now, I don't agree with them. I graduated with my BMus honours degree (UCC 2009), and now a student of the MA in Ethnomusicology course at UCC.
I am continuing my studies with Dara O Brien (Sitar) and Connie O'Connell(fiddle). My areas of interest for research include: the transmission of traditional Irish fiddle music( the subject of my thesis!), commercialization of music, among others. If anyone is interested in my work in progress I can tell you more about it if you message me, it's very long winded!
My main influences on fiddle are Peadar O Loughlin, Bobby Casey, Tommy Potts, Packie Dolan(the forgotten fiddle player of the 1920s!). My grandmother taught me piano, and always gave out to me for not reading the music, I used to learn it off by ear :-) I still do that today, I am a terrible sightreader but a good listener. I dabble in guitar and other instruments: I’m a fan of dinky, portable instruments such as the melodica/toy keyboards and so on.
What you hear on this page is what I like to do (write songs...), but I also compose instrumental work. I have arranged string parts for various musicians/groups, organised events/exhibitions, teach traditional Irish music, appeared on Irish, Polish and Japanese television/radio, produced and presented radio shows, slept in Central Park West. Other than that, I am a member of the Turloughmore Ceili Band (fiddle), Cajole and Bully (electric fiddle) and guest for other groups/orchestras/projects. I teach Music Theory and Piano at the I.T.M.I (Irish Traditional Music Institute) in Co.Clare, as well as private one-to-one and group fiddle classes.
If you are interested in hearing more of my arrangements/work or want to collaborate please message me.
Oh Darling - Why don't you write me :( I'm sooo in love with you!
Please visit me in Munich, soon! Soon we have Oktober-Fest - you know that event surely - you have to come here, i cum in you and we drink lot of beer in the augustiner-Zelt on the Wiesn. Okay?
We are playing in Whelans this Friday 28th of August for a farewell show before we head to Canada to record our Debut album. Its the last time we will be playing for quite a while.
