We regret that Taylor's funfair will be on the Meadows the week before us this year but we hope to be reunited with them in 2009.
Music
Whatever good local (south of Princes Street) bands will play for free? Bands who appeal to an audience that includes people with children and the over 60's. So folk and classical are included as well as reggae, pop, rock etc!
Movies
Childrens Art Exhibition. This traditional feature of the Meadows Festival encourages children to paint or draw a poster and use their 'pester power' to get it put up somewhere as public as possible eg Local Shop or Granny's front window. The poster should read 'Meadows Festival 2008 7th & 8th June'and be as realistic or fantasy as the artist chooses. One local Primary school is already participating.
If you have any video footage of past Meadows Festivals we would love to have clips on this site.

Meadows Festival Edinburgh's Friend Space (Top 40)
Great to see you got some funding from the Lottery but I bet you need loads more. Can we have the nice poster back please asap? I was going to send it to some people.
aaaaah! Thanks for asking! The Meadows Festival is something I hold very dear to my heart. Not only 'cos I recall seeing some great local punk bands on the live stage in the very late 70s, but before that I was a finalist in the inaugural Primary Schools 5-a-sides competition which was in 1974....St Patrick's (my dear and long departed Alma Mater) were cheated in the final by Preston Street. I remember the huge crowd and going up on stage on a balmy Sunday Summer night to get my runner-up medal. Christ, we had summers then didn't we? I later moved to St Thomas' Secondary and let me assure you the Meedies Fest was the ONLY place for adolescents to get their kicks...must've fallen in love six times in June 76 alone. Good luck and thanks again. Stevie FTE
Hello and thank you for the friend request. I used to attend the festival every year when I was in Edinburgh right from childhood and it was always good despite the rain that usually fell! Unfortunately I am unable to be involved as I no longer live in Edinburgh but I hope you manage to get support to get the festival up and running again. All the best. Debbie.
