Sounds Like
Classic rock guitar hooks with sweet and spicy vocals
“Roses may be red and violets may be blue, but you can see those flowers any time you like, I’m only here once in a blue moon”, Meagan Tubb is a rare breed of female artist with her own enticing scent. This singer/songwriter/guitar player tirelessly strives to convey messages of hope, belief; and life observations of God, herself, nature, love, and relationships through unexpected vantage points within her songs. Stewed in the blues with vintage rock as the main ingredient, add a dash of funk, and serve with a “secret sauce”, Meagan draws from many styles to coalesce her own distinct musical flavor. She is often compared to Sheryl Crow, Tracy Bonham, Fiona Apple, and Grace Slick in vocal style, ability, and technique while her guitar playing is carved out from the masters of the trade such as Jimmy Hendrix, Shuggie Otis, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. She walks that fine line between accessibility and obscurity when it comes to her songwriting; relying upon memories, dreams, occurrences and mostly her own imagination to render the central themes to her songs. Since moving to Austin from San Diego, she has found a powerful band to bring her latest inventions to the stage. She is joined by Wilson Carr on bass and back up vocals; Jason Nunnencamp from Red McFunk on back up vocals, lead, rhythm, and slide guitar; and John Duran on drums from the band the Heat Merchants. Hey I got your text. I would love to go tubing. It just depends if I can get work off or not. I am planning a long trip up to michigan the following week, so I really can't ask for any more days off. However, I'll see if I can work some magic.
Thank you so much for coming to visit. The weekend was a blast and I hope that you enjoyed being here. It means so much that you were able to break away from your crazy schedule so that we could hang out. I can't thank you enough! Miss you already and hope to see you again sooner rather than later. By the way...LOVING the new CD!!!!

Daniel Lopez will be doing the singer/songwriter contest on Monday (May 12, 2008.) This will probably be the last time I do something like this for a while.
Location: The Bakehouse (5404 Manchaca Road, South Austin)
Time: Starts at 7:00pm. I will try to sign up for a later time slot to see some of the competition.
