About me:

As M.E.Ch.A de Cal Poly Pomona, in accordance with the M.E.Ch.A philosophy, we believe that "chicanismo is a concept that integrates self-awareness with cultural identity,... therefore the term Chicano is grounded in a philosophy, not a nationality." In respect to this philosophy, as Mechistas we will embrace anyone who accepts, believes, and works for the goals and objectives of M.E.Ch.A regardless of race, ethnicity, class, citizenship status, gender or sexual orientation. As mechistas we believe that self empowerment and the liberation of Aztlan can truly be sought through culture, history, education, and political and community involvement. We will dedicate ourselves to recruit, retain and graduate more Chicanos and Chicanas from Cal Poly Pomona.
