About me:

Alex Orton-green(Yoof) and Jody Shires (Bionic) are 2 brothers behind the Sonz of Mecha. Both born and raised in Sarf east london and who boast some serious credentials. First and foremost they are the label bosses and owners of the innovative and truely underground u.k breaks label Mechanoise. Collectively they produce the guises Uncouthyouth, Bionic, Mechanoise soundsystem and the Sonz of Mecha. In addition, their production skills and talent have enabled Mechanoise to have a strong rosta of artists through the years, producing innovative music in collaboration with other DJs/labels and programmers. Artists such as 2 sinners, Digital pimp, R-kidz & Noize aka Lawgiverz have all released debut singles on Mechanoise also discovering the talents of new artists such as Jay Cunning, Cause n Fx, Distortionz, Phrenetic and Dj Quest. The sound that the Sonz have created and pioneerd in the last 5 years have seen them collaborate and remix some of the most prestigous artists the scene has to offer such as Rennie Pilgrem (TCR), T-power, Blade, MC Dee, Sounds of Habib ,Neil Mcellan (prodigy producer), D pimp, Surge, Dj Quest,DJ Mutiny, Ic3, J da Flex ... Mechanoise capture the true sound of U.K underground breakbeat. Elements and influences from oldskool, drum & bass, hip hop, electro, 2 step and of course breakbeat, are arranged in a glorious soup of explosive beats and bass. From dope induced illegal warehouse parties to tower block pirate radio stations, from bass fests like Trigger to playing the U.S.A & Spain, headlining the legendary Raindance raves to being some of the only breaks djs that have played Drum & bass raves. Mechanoise always deliver an action packed ride of sledgehammer beats. After establishing their label, the brothers in breaks decided that South London needed a record shop specialising in breakbeat orientated music. So they opened Decksterity records in Greenwich with long term friend Matt (Booker) ,supplying breakbeat enthusiasts with Drum & Bass, Breaks and underground 2 step and is now officialy the biggest seller of breaks in London. At the time of when the record shop was only still a pipe dream, BREAKS FM was founded in 1999/2000 and was the first pirate radio station that was dedicated to breakbeat and hosted nearly every single breaks dj you could think off and had numerous sell out parties across London, even to this day Breaks FM has set the trend now for other pirates that have started playing breaks. A few critics have slated Mechanoise for having a twisted uncompromising dark approach to their music but critics often confuse the term dark with true underground vibes and with the influx of producers making this sound it only proves that these guys are ahead of their game. The Sonz represent everything that is underground about breakbeat. Be open minded and listen closely to their sound and discover a history book of underground influences. Mechanoise have released some heavy tracks but witness the Sonz of mecha behind a set of turntables and you will hear electro, hip hop, 2 step, breaks both funky/nu skool. Collaborations, remixes, producing, DJing, touring, management, record broadcasting are all part of their everyday. With such a history in the breaks scene and one of the first breaks labels about when the scene was just a handfull of producers and still very young, 2005 sees the princes of darkness reclaim their throwns and take Mechanoise to the next level!
