Mechanical Dan gives Denver a combination of "classic sound and reverence for their forebearers with a modern approach that takes into account the past 3 decades of indie rock and punk". The band started in '06 when signer/songwriter Dan Simms and bassist Pete met drummer Ryan at a local blues jam. Pete and Dan, along with guitarist J. Corey Woessner, had a gig lined up without a drummer. After one rehearsal, the group knew they had something special. "We all had a mutual interest in 60s/70's rock and blues, so we hit it off immediately," says Corey, "our niche sound formed almost simultaneously with our creation." Almost a year later keyboard player Anthony joined the band to provide a solid foundation giving more space for Woessner to bring the music in and out of hard hitting riffs and face-melting leads. "There are definite roots in 70's blues-rock and motown, but it's an organic flow of straight up rock music," recalls Dan. -
