THE XMAS BASHMENT BOOGIE - 18th December
ft Drum Summit Project & Music Evolution
The Acorn Arts Centre, Penzance

'Off the hook' some might even say 'Off the clock', however you describe it, this is a rare chance to see the Drum Summit Project so don't miss it. Pulling everything seamlessly together in the bar will be the Music Evolution DJs & The Bad Rabbit.
Performing on the night upstairs will be the amazing Drum Summit Project, who with only a few gigs to date under their belt, have a real hype and buzz building around the band and are currently busy rehearsing and also recording material for an EP release in early 2009, as well as some big festival performances. An infusion of soul, reggae, hip-hop, drum & bass, broken beat, soca and funk performed on steel pan, they are backed by a brass section, DJ and fronted by MC Lexis of the Beatech Collective. Their high-energy sets pull influences from these genres to generate a show tailor made for some serious shape throwing and booty shaking on the dance floor. Following their performance at this summers Disco Debauchery event, those who attended will know their show at the Bashment Boogie is not to be missed, so get your tickets early! The 6&3 Swim Club Social Annual Ball
New Years Eve | Music Evolution, o-region, Groovelounge, Jazznoir

The 6&3 Swim Club was formed by keen sea swimmers and near neighbours Tressa Logh and Thelma Mitchell (6 and 3 being their respective house numbers) in Penzance in 1928. What began, as a simple leisure pursuit soon became something of a phenomenon in the area. With the membership swelling over the next 10 years the sea-based pursuits of the club became overshadowed by the ladies' famous quarterly ‘socials, the highlight of which was the Annual Ball, held every New Years in the town, until 1938.
The Ball of 1939 was to be the most ambitious and glamorous to date but the outbreak of WWII put, what everyone at the time believed to be, a temporary halt to proceedings.
But when the fighting in Europe came to an end, the pre war decadence that had fuelled the social calendar of the Swim Club seemed an age away. It was sadly decided that the annual ball was not resurrected. Following the passing of Thelma Mitchell in 1946 the Swim Club ceased to operate altogether and the amazing story of ‘The 6&3' was apparently consigned to history. That is until now. Nearly 70 years on, Music Evolution, in association with o-region are proud to present the return of 6&3 Swim Club Social Annual Ball.
'So come on folks dig out those dapper suits and decadent dresses and let's party like it's 1939.'
