    Medea is a solo project from Henry Meeuws, the keyboard player of the Dutch symphonic and progressive rockband Casual Silence. Henry's musical roots go all the way back to 1989, when he was guitarist of the melodic metal band ..Yarreth.., with which they released three demos; ‘The Outcast' (1989), ‘Two Sides' (1992) and ‘Out Of The Daydream' (1997). In 1998 he went solo with his Medea project. Meanwhile he also recorded a solo album with classical pieces on the acoustic guitar (1999). But after some time a ticklish feeling was rising and he wanted to stand on the stage again and play for a live audience. In September 2000 he found his musical challenge as a keyboard player and so he joined the Dutch progressive symphonic rock band Casual Silence. He quickly had an important part in writing and composing their music. At the beginning of 2003 he recorded with Casual Silence their successful album ‘Once In A Blue Moon'. Nearly at the same time his first full length solo album under the name MEDEA and the album “Individual Unique” was released by Red Sea Records. This album was also a rock opera about the life and works of Michelangelo. Henry played all the instruments himself and he made use of 9 guest vocalists, among which were 3 of his fellow members of Casual Silence. The album got praiseworthy reviews (‘vette krent' in the IOpages). With his new rock opera named ‘Room XVII' Henry has accepted the challenge to surpass this sublime album in all of its aspects. He has signed a record deal with Snakebite Records and again he engaged an impressive cast of musicians for the release, such as for instance Rob Laarhoven (Casual Silence), Joss Mennen (Mennen), Edwin Balogh (Ayreon, Supersonic), Robbie van Stiphout (Day Six) and Sandra Peeters (V-Male / theAlterGlow). In addition there was a unique co-operation with the male choir ..Lambardi ..on this album. ..Fon Janssen (Mennen, Project Fear) .. has taken charge of all the drums. With these musical ingredients ‘Room XVII' has become a great, varied and bombastic rock opera!. In March 2007 Henry released his second full length album with his band Casual Silence. This great conceptalbum, called .."Lost In Life" .. contains 8 symphonic, progressive rocktracks. Guestvocals on this album by no one less than ..Damian Wilson (Landmarq, Treshold, Aryeon) ..and Sandra Peeters. LATEST NEWS! Currently Henry is working on a new MEDEA album. A NEW STORY, A NEW CONCEPT being unfold in 2011 “NORTHERN LIGHT" is the title of my new concept, which is based on a Scandinavian fairytale about eternal life. Themes in this concept are: religion versus disappointment, death versus eternal youth, and the relation between parents and their children. Again it will become a concept album, a kind of rock opera with several guest performances of great musicians. I have almost finished the writing process and now it’s time for this story to be unfold. It has to step out of my mind and become a musical reality. In 2009 I intend to start the recordings and I want to choose the right musicians to fill in the characters. A lot of intensive work, besides the activities with my band Casual Silence and of course the attention I want to pay to my dear family. So I want to make an appeal to your patience and hope you realize and understand, it will take some time before my third solo album will be released. But I can assure you, that time will come! .....To be continued…..

In 2010 Henry wrote and recorded a song that was based on a tragic event in his life. It became a single 'for insiders' named: 'Barefoot Man'.

In April 2011 Casual Silence released their brand new album 'Vertical Horizon'. An album recorded by Henry himself at his Wolfsfield Studio and at the Sandlane Studio in Rijen. It was mixed by Joost van den Broek (Ayreon, After Forever, Sun Caged). It was their best album since ever, but unfortunately also their last album; After 18 years Casual Silence stopped in Juli 2011.

Together with Rob Laarhoven (formar singer of Casual Silence) and ex-members of the Dutch sympho band Ricocher, Henry started as guitarist in October 2011 a new progressive rock band named 'ELEVEN’S EVE'. And that’s why the song material for Medea’s third concept album ‘Northern Light’ is still unrecorded. But I won’t get it out of my head so in a near future…
