   Media Activist Jay Baker™'s Blurbs
About me:

Jay Baker is a British media activist and social entrepreneur; a documentarian, writer, vlogger, blogger, campaigner and university dropout who has lived in the United States, Canada, Britain, and Spain. As a child surrounded by the upheaval of the miners' strikes in tumultuous times for South Yorkshire, and abused by pupils and teachers alike, he was pulled from the school system and taught at home by his mother while his father worked 12-hour shifts at the local factory. His creativity nurtured, and with a sense of social justice, his path was set. After quitting his Media degree, he went on to become its only student working in the media, setting up and successfully running his own non-profit NGO for five years before founding SilenceBreaker Media collectives in both Britain and North America.

Jay Baker’s work has involved actively participating in urban regeneration projects, speaking at schools, festivals, and conferences, filming and editing awareness-raising videos for community groups, organizing and emceeing anti-racism concerts, making issue-based documentaries, talking on podcasts and radio shows, writing blogs, publishing zines, recording vlogs, painting, campaigning, and - most notably - writing, directing and producing the controversial feature-length “science-fact B-movie” Escape from Doncatraz, releasing a compilation of his previous writings as a book called Soon To Be Banned and his second book, Pissing in the Mainstream. He currently attends the prestigious School for Social Entrepreneurs and is working on his next film, Return to Doncatraz.

He has written for independent newspaper The Mule, the award-winning zine La Bouche, and has been highly rated and published in The Blog Paper. He also edits the newsletter known as The Silence Breaker. Other dubious honours include being featured as a "public enemy" on fascist website Redwatch, having numerous scathing songs written about him, guesting on BBC breakfast radio shows four times, having a “trading card” made of him at one university, and being the subject of a poem as part of D Shellhammer’s book, Like a Goat in a Hail Storm.

Passionate, provocative, and sometimes even polarizing, Jay Baker wears his heart on his sleeve and has spoken publicly at conferences, universities, high schools, and festivals to audiences of thousands. When he’s not talking, people are often talking about him anyway. If you’d like to receive rates on him speaking at your event, email jaybaker(at)mediaactivist.com

Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone who isn't competitive. Anyone who communicates directly. Anyone with principles. Anyone that thinks critically rather than wasting time watching eMpTyV or reality shows. Anyone who isn't an Intellectual Capitalist who perceives diplomatic discussion and debate instead as a battle to be won. Anyone who realises every single human being has at least one thing in common with them. Anyone who isn't a bunny-boiler obsessing over me. Anyone that loves those little moments that don't even involve you but still possess the power to make you cry. Anyone who isn't a Toilet Seat Intellectual. Anyone who isn't intimidated by intelligence. Anyone who isn't a Navel-Gazing Leftist. Anyone who realises we are all unique, and that's what makes us all the same. Anyone that doesn't work jobs they hate so they can buy crap they're told to want but don't actually need. Anyone who doesn't further justify your decision to remove them your life by being spiteful afterwards. Anyone not wrapped up in a bubble of domesticated consumerism, therapy, and apathy. Anyone who realises "it's just a couch!" Anyone that doesn't just wait for their turn to speak but actually cares. Anyone who doesn't claim to love you, then lie and cheat and steal. Anyone who isn't just a highly-packaged symbol of over-wrought self-perception. Anyone who isn't sycophantic. Anyone who finds it strange that some men won't go down on women on their period, but will eat an egg for breakfast (think about that for a moment). Anyone who doesn't think the latest trends, mainstream or alternative, are important. Anyone not part of an incestual clique of "free love" which is forgotten later on anyway when backstabbing commences. Anyone who doesn't think romance is reserved for literature. Anyone who doesn't try to keep up with the Joneses, or the Hiltons or the Beckhams. Anyone that actually looks upwards while they walk, tripping over just to get a look at a beautiful sky. Anyone that doesn't think that poor is cool. Anyone who uses their given talent for positivity not negativity. Anyone campaigning for issues of importance. Anyone that knows Internet Profiles Are Not Enough.

u were distracted enough to comment on it right? i mean just becuz your
level of studies supersedes the masses... doesnt mean this isnt
important for others who are just waking up.. see children watch this
and most parents DONT KNOW how sinister a little MTV video actually
is.. or how this seemingly small thing (number one selling artist in
the world) plays into the bigger picture of programming.... SHE is the distraction.. not this little video.. eyez back on the prize Jay..

Dear friends,

I hope you are all well.

Below is a video of Nigel Potter's song, No More War (Upon The Green Earth) that is part of the Mantra Of Peace music compilation. I constructed this video for Nigel because it's an important song with a very popular sentiment that has been an anthem for a very long time.

I hope you will watch and appreciate all of our efforts to bring about messages in peaceful artistic means.

Thank you for being our friend :)

Peace,

Continued Aggression Leads to Mapuche Declaration of War
Continued aggressions of the Chilean state has led the Arauco Malleco Coordinator of Mapuche Communities in Conflict (CAM), a radical indigenous Mapuche organization, to formally renounce their Chilean citizenship and declared war on the government.
The declaration was issued on Oct. 20, the same day that two trucks belonging to the El Bosque forestry corporation were intercepted by CAM and set on fire in the province of Malleco.
As reported by the Latin American Herald Tribune, “the attacks, which began at 1:10 a.m., came hours after five Mapuches were formally indicted under a Pinochet-era anti-terrorism law for similar assaults carried out Oct. 11 near the city of Victoria.”
The declaration, much more than a symbolic gesture, comes at a time of increasing violence against Mapuche children and youths, particularly over the past three months, when Mapuche communities began reclaiming illegally occupied lands in the region of Araucania.
For instance, according to the International Federation of Human Rights (FIDH), on Oct. 16 “a large group of police, for as yet unknown reasons, began to fire pellets and tear gas canisters” in a school in Temucuicui, Araucania. “Several children suffered pellet wounds and had trouble breathing,”
Hundreds of Mapuche and non-Mapuche activists protested the attack on Oct. 23—including several children, who carried the empty canisters with them as the marched in Temuco, Araucania’s capital.
