Coming from many different singing backgrounds, the Medicine Tail Singers have been singing together for five years. Since then, their singing has taken them across the U.S to many powwows, as well as performing at different events such as the 2002 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festivals and the 2006 World Eskimo Indian Olympics in Fairbanks, AK. The contemporary northern-style drum group composes all of its songs in the Muscogee and Coushatta languages. Aside from powwows, many of the members are involved in their traditional and ceremonial ways. They have released three albums to date including their first release entitled: "It's Time", their second relase entitled: "Powwowlicious" recorded live at the 11th annual Grand Coushatta Celebration in Kinder, LA, and their latest and greatest entitled: "We Sing For You" recorded live at the 29th annual IICOT powwow of champions in Tulsa, OK.
Recently, The Medicine Tail Singers' new CD, "We Sing For You" was nominated for Best Powwow Recording for the Native American Music Awards. The group also has cd reviews in the current issue of News From Indian Country Powwow edition, as well as the upcoming issue of Whispering Wind Magazine.
