The project Camerata Mediolanense took concrete form in 1994. It gathered some friends in Milan (Mediolanense = from Mediolanum, the ancient name for Milan), who were all involved in the underground music scene. It was conceived as a real musical "camerata", which casts a look at the Italian past and at the same time is deeply rooted in today's European reality. In fact, the main features of Camerata Mediolanense's musical language are: a percussive background, particularly evident during their live performances, which comes out thanks to the use of a non-conventional set of instruments; parallel to this, the band is doing a research on pure melodiousness, thanks also to the academical studies of some of its members.
Il progetto Camerata Mediolanense si è determinato nel 1994. Esso riuniva alcuni amici, tutti attivi nell'ambito della musica underground milanese. Mediolanense deriva infatti da Mediolanum, l'antico nome latino di Milano. Tale progetto è stato concepito come una vera e propria Camerata musicale: esso volge infatti uno sguardo al passato, italiano in particolare, e al tempo stesso si trova ben radicato nel presente europeo. Due sono le peculiarità del linguaggio musicale della Camerata: particolarmente evidente nelle esibizioni dal vivo è una matrice percussiva, che risalta grazie a una strumentazione non convenzionale; parallelamente e in modo complementare a ciò, il gruppo conduce una ricerca del puramente melodico, anche grazie al retaggio accademico-conservatoriale di alcuni fra i suoi componenti.
